Okay, Members. Important conversation here tonight.

As you all know, the primary goal of this group is to help people. This does not JUST mean "here is how to improve your comic". This means... what do you need?

Do you need to advertise it? Let us know! We're implementing things!
Do you need hosting? We'll help you find it!
Do you need a website layout for it? We'll help you get it made.
Want to see a certain picture drawn? Peter is taking requests.
Link sharing? Starting those soon.
Critique? Starting soon!

But that's still not all.

This group is supposed to be a positive, uplifting place. One of the reasons our rules are so strict on what we allow is because we want this group to be beneficial.

If there is another member who is harassing you, tell us!

Now, we have the amazing :iconscribblin: who is constantly prowling for problematic members and alerting me, but I need help! I cannot force her to do this alone, so please tell me, or tell her, if there is someone on DA that is toxic to this group.
We will listen!

Coming this month, I am really trying to improve the group. We have new co-founders who are dedicated to helping out! You can contact them!

scribblin created this group. She cares about you guys! She's the one alerting me to problematic
PumaForge is a friend of mine and is doing the art for my comic Mercedes Rules. He takes art requests to do on his youtube channel and is helping greatly with submissions. If you have a question on if something can/should be submitted, and I have not replied to you within 24 hours, ask him. He will also soon be doing art tutorials. Not "how to" guides, just videos of how he does things that others may find useful.
FelixNeko is my best friend, and while he isn't on DA much he loves comics, handles things while I am gone at conventions, and helps me with the financial aspects of this group.

We're all here for you! So don't be afraid to ask.

Huh, I didn't realise you were THAT into assisting, rather than just being a group for makers to submit to
When I saw the group description, I thought you meant helping get publicity around dA by being in a group

I have a suggestion for hosting: 000webhost.com.
That's the service I use for my webcomic [link] (I have also made use of the free Dot TK domain name to shorten the url, although it wasn't that bad to begin with, just a subdomain).

P.S. I forgot to include any details: 000webhost has been up for years with no chronic problems or signs that it will go away suddenly, and offers 1500 MB of space (far more than a beginner webcomic needs anyway) with something like 10 gigabytes of monthly traffic bandwidth, as well as email service (including POP3 and forwarding), MySQL, Cron jobs, a user-friendly website builder (for those not versed in HTML, PHP, etc.), and several other nifty features.

Huh, cool. I'd always be happy to help, I love critiquing. (My time is a little limited though). When I first started my comic it was mostly for fun, but now that I'm taking it more seriously I found an awesome site for domains: www.comicfury.com (just in case you didn't know about it) It hosts free domains for comic-makers and you can choose to have ads on it or even to not associate with the site. It's pretty nifty.

I could use a nice layout, but I'm kinda on a hiatus on my main comic so /shrug.

And yeah, I like shawave11's idea of interviewing members. If we just see a splattering of comics we tend to feel rather detached.

(actually, what I would need help on mostly for my main comic would be NOT doing all of the work, lol. I'm doing a team-sort-of-thing for my new comic that I'm using as a break, and it's so much less stressful.)

Perhaps a monthly advice write-in thing?

I've never seen it done with a comics group, but a few of the writing groups I watch have members write in about topics like how to make characters etc. in the comments section of a journal (a specific topic every month) and then post them with the next month's prompt. That way, you could show people a variety of ways to do some particular comic related task (whether it involve the writing or drawing of the comic itself or website layout or hosting or whatever else you can possibly think of - I personally would love to see how other people lay out panels, or how they attract attention about their comic.)
It seems like it wouldn't be too difficult to organize either... all you'd really need would be a topic, and at least one person would probably come up with an explanation.

Anyone know someone who would be willing to help me out with making comics in Photoshop? I'm pretty new to the program - I spent the bulk of my life drawing traditionally but al frustrated with traditional's limitations. I'm not very good with computers (i'm an old-fashioned farm kid durr) and could really use a tutor or a guide.

I'm great with writing - I have my degree in it. I have no problem with dialogue and storytelling. But my drawing and painting skills are sorely lacking. My dream is to become a great graphic storyteller and I'm not giving up on it. However, I know that I need help.

Can you help with teaching mad Photoshop skills or are you able to point me in the direction of someone who would? I have plenty of reference material to show exactly what I'm trying to achieve and I'm real easy to work with. I'm happy to talk over Skype and email if desired.

Thank you!

This is definitely one of the few groups I've seen on DA that actually serves the purpose of what a group is supposed to be... a helpful place for like minds to get together and create. I'm hoping that one day I'll have something to contribute, or knowledge to pass on! Until then, thanks for helping us beginners out.

I thank you very much!

This group is important to me, and it's important it serves it's purpose because I've got my own comics. I know how vital it is to have a place that actually tries to help out! And I fully believe that if we all help one another, we all can go further.

Feedback on writing so it sounds natural and artwork based on how quickly it had to be done would be my most desired thing.

I'm a first timer with comics ^^; I sure would appreciate some feedback. I'm having so much trouble with motivation and pacing with the blasted thing I just wanna toss it into the fiery pits of my "I don't want to anymore" bucket...

Besides that I would love to help out with the group in anyway I can :salute: This group sure seems friendly :3 I sure as heck like it here.

Smachjeeves is, essentially, just a comic host. It doesn't advertise for you. Sign up with Project Wonderful [link] and make some banners for your comic! You can advertise for as little as $0.10 a day.

That's alright :) Sign up anyway, you would be amazed how useful it can be. Especially since you can use it to make money off your comic.

Other ideas, like links sharing, doing guest comics, and collaborations are all things we'll be doing with the group soon!

I have been working on my first comic Operation: Electronic Love!
I also accept commissions and in those commissions I will draw comic pages for those who pay.

I hope that people listen to the rules here ;u;
this is such an awesome group.

this may sound like a stupid idea, but I think that sometimes one of the main founders or people that help edit this group should go to a random member sometime, and have a chat interviewing them along with featuring some of the artists personal favorite pieces that they made and the interviewers. :) I know its a stupid idea, but I think that would be pretty fun!

I've actually been considering doing that for a long while! In a journal soon we're going to be showing all the new features I'm implementing.

I cannot go to members at random, but I am making it so member interviews WILL be happening!
