========== WRITTEN TEST ==========

Lucy grunted unhappily as she attempted to force a small canister containing potions and the alike into her new dress coat. After their researchers interview, Niveus being the self-appointed leader of the duo instantly deducted they needed a new pair of chipper outfits for their job. In reality it hadn't gone all that simple as it had only been Lucy who plucked an appropriate outfit from the rack of seemingly endless designs. Niveus had gotten far too distracted bothering the casher with questions like "what's your name? What's your favourite color? What outfit do you like best in this store?" He never seemed satisfied with wanting to pretend he was interested in those answers. It was all really just a hoax so he could please Lucy with his attempts to appear intelligent. Lucy however, was far too smart to be outwitted by his performance. She saw right through it and without hesitation called the Poochyena out on it... Which resulted in him sulking in a corner.

"Come Niveus, I shall not wait all day for you." Lucy approached where the Poochyena had plaster his face to the wooden floor miserably. His rump was high in the air with his extravagantly long tail neatly falling onto the wood in a pile. His front paws were sprawled out in front of him so now he mimicked the position of a playful pooch. Only his expression told those who stood to gawk at his embarrassing nature that he was in no mood for play or anything of the sort.

Niveus let loose a whine. "You called me dumb, why should I follow you?" His orange eyes looked at Lucy's own red ones for any sort of expression that resembled sympathy.

Lucy rolled her eyes at him. The nerve he had to do this in public. "You're acting like a child Niveus." She pointed out the obvious and paused to think up something else that would convince him to follow her.  "I wasn't joking around Niv, I really will leave." She stared at him with the knowledgeable eyes a teacher might give a student. "Now come, let us familiarize ourselves with this sanctuary of learning." She tried to make it sound exciting but to Niveus it only sounded like a plead to get him to move. But it worked, and he stood with a slightly hunched over back as he marched after the Ninetales. As they walked Lucy tried her best to enthusiastically point out things she thought were worth looking at. Unfortunately Niveus's interests and Lucy's interested differed greatly.

"Oh! And over here we have the library. Good to brush up on your knowledge no?" Niveus blew out a huff of exhaustion and boredom rolled into one. The deal was he was suppose to protect Lucy's behind as they explored the outside world. She didn't have to go and drag him around though. Everything here was so boring! Why couldn't she understand that? Was she raised by a rock?

Lucy stopped walking for a moment and Niveus almost walked into her had he not looked up in time. "Woah, Lucy what happened?" They stared ahead as a Flygon moved through a stifled crowed. They complained and bickered as she apologized repeatedly for accidently bumping them with her wings. Poor girl.

"Ohhh... Excuse me, pardon me, Leader's Assistant comin' through... C'mon guys, can’t you have your little meeting thing somewhere that isn't blocking a hallway? 'scuse me, sorry, jeez..."

When she finally made it out, Niveus noticed that she carried fondly a large amount of thick scrolls. Blueprint tubes of some sort were on her back and a strap crossed her chest diagonally to connect her masterpiece of an outfit together. The Poochyena made a noise to speak but was taken aback as the Flygon fell, dramatically onto her face. Ooo, that looked painful. Some muffled chuckles emerged from the crowed but a snort from Niveus and glare from Lucy later, the comments ceased. Niveus would like to think it was because he looked intimidating but it was in reality due to Lucy prepping to use hypnosis on the strangers. That riled the crowd further for only a brief moment before reason sunk in and they decided it not worth their time to attack. Something in the fog was likely to kill the two researchers, why waste the energy themselves?

"Are you alright?" Lucy asked the flygon. Lucy was so tall she had to lean over both Niveus and (the rather tall herself) Flygon to ask.

"Oooof, so many papers... There we go," The flygon muttered and balanced everything back into a suffice pile before she straightened and cheerfully grinned at the two. "Thanks so much for helping me pick all these up. I swear, that’s like the fifth time I’ve tripped today; I’m such a klutz…" She blinked before continuing. "Heeeey, wait a minute. You don't look familiar. Are you visiting the Guild?"

Lucy and Niveus exchanged a slightly concerned look but the Ninetales turned and properly informed her, "we have just signed up."

"Well no wonder I don’t remember you, you're new!" The Flygon attempted to bow, or at least as much as she could manage without dropping everything again. "Welcome to the Researchers Guild! I'm Kali, I'm one of the Guild Leaders' assistants here. Pleased to meet you! And you are…?"

"Lucy." The Ninetales spoke before Niveus could butt in. He wasn't formal enough in Lucy's regards to give anyone a proper introduction. "And this is my partner, Niveus."

"Partner?" The canine muttered to himself. He was the leader, what was she doing introducing herself as such?!

The Flygon smiled again. "Nice names! You don't hear many like that around here, but then again Andalusst is kind of a mish-mash of a whole bunch of different kinds of names. It's always nice to hear 'em since Pokémon do tend to come in from all over the place, after all. And speaking of which, did you guys get here from the fog or something?"

"Er... Yeah, something like that." Niveus awkwardly commented when Lucy herself could not come up with a response. It was more or less them accidently tripping and quite literally falling into Andalusst.

"Really? Hmm, yeah, that's how it is for a few people around here. I'm not an Andalusst native myself, but I figured I'd stick around. Anyway, now that you're here and you've been registered as a team, what name did you pick?"

"Ah that, We're team-"

"Team Flicker." Niveus couldn't resist telling her that and talked over Lucy to be heard. "It represents a Flicker of hope."

"And a flicker of light in the fog surrounding us."

A paused erupted as Kali digested what the two were saying. She laughed lightly in response. "Hah, that's so much better than the name I used when I signed up, wow. I was kind of, uh, young and silly back then, I guess you could say, so the name I used was... yeeeeaaaaah, pretty bad."

Lucy's ear twitch in noticing she didn't say the name, yet before she could ask what was so bad about she asked yet another question.

"So what's your reason for joining the Guild, anyway? There are three guilds here in Andalusst, and even if I like it here with the Researchers, I know it's not the best fit for everyone since we're kinda knowledge-oriented; you could've just as easily registered with the Hunters, or the Explorers. So why here?"

"Oh that's easy." Lucy started. She was firmly interrupted by Niveus again.

"Oh yeah, simply simple. Defintely not some twisted long story or anything it's just-"

"For the sake of knowledge I signed up." Lucy was quick to speak and stop Niveus from embarrassing her with mindless chatter. "I wish to know about the making of potions... Particularly healing potions and magic's of the sort. Anything that can cure diseases. Although," she chuckled, "I would not be against learning about poisons now and again." She cocked a head towards the pooch as she said "he joined as my bodyguard. I'm not the best at... Attacking." She looked like she had eaten something rotten as she spoke the last word. She had also looked troubled as she sought for it. "Niveus wanted to get out in the world, and I want to learn about it. Simple really..."

Kali looked fascinated by their short story. "Wow, that's quite a tale! Not many Pokémon come through here with a story like that. Seems like everyone in the Guilds has a driving force behind what they do, and some reasons are... well, better than others."

Lucy could agree with that statement.

Kali paused before her voice regained its happy, chipper tone. "So that’s the "why" and the "how"; what about the "what"? What do you think made the Guild decide to accept you into the ranks?" She said with an honest curiosity, not a look or quiver indicating other words.

"Ahem." Lucy coughed, looked to Niveus to ensure he wouldn't interrupt and then continued. "My intellect serves your guild well, from outside the city I learned many things about..." Her voiced faded into a laugh before she started up again. "Well, many, many things I assure you."

Niveus took the opportunity to butt in again. "I'm the bestest guard that ever lived! You won't be sorry with me around!" He looked very proud and accomplished in that statement.

"Oh wow, that's pretty cool! You guys are lucky. Y'know sometimes I wish I had a better skill set like that; then maybe I’d be more help to the Guild. Pretty much the only things I do around here are draw and deliver papers everywhere and, well, get stuck helping Archie."

The last word was said with a hiss of venom and hate, Lucy and even Niveus realized this "Archie" wasn't her favourite character.

"I mean yeah sure he's one of the Guild Leaders, but he's just so... so... annoying, always bossing people around and taking credit for everything and acting like he's so much smarter than everyone else. And I'm always the one having to put up with him since someone has to help him but everyone else always runs off before they get stuck with him instead!"

Kali let out a great huff of frustration, glancing away for a moment before she remembered she had an audience at hand. She gave an embarrassed chuckle and her face slowly brewed red. "And oh gosh, there I go running my mouth, ahaha! Sorry, I'm not talking too much or anything, am I? I kind of have a tendency to ramble on sometimes... And I probably really shouldn’t be bad-mouthing Archimedes...”

She jumped up all of a sudden, panicked abruptly as she remembered the papers in her arms "And OH MY GOSH I still need to take care of these!"

She began running down the hall in a hurry before turning suddenly and swiftly while whacking a passerby down onto the floor with her dragon tail. "Uh, it was nice meeting you! I'll, er, see you later, I hope?" She attempted to raise and arm back to wave but stopped short before her papers could fall. Instead she flashed them a toothy grin before leaving, with both Niveus and Lucy to stand in shock.

"Not even a proper goodbye? The nerve." Lucy feigned disappointment. She had in fact enjoyed her meeting with Kali, even with the sudden departure.

"Aw come on Luc, give 'er a break. That only something you say ta me." He began to sit down and scratch the back of his neck with one of his hind legs. Oh yes, Niveus was very undignified.

"Humph. Very well, consider it forgotten." The Ninetales turned around and glared judgingly at Niveus as she said, "now how about lunch, hmm? We deserve a refreshing meal after all that glorified talking."

"Yay, food! Sure!" Niveus jumped up excitedly and wagged his tail in enthusiasm. He looked over at Lucy as she finished and retaliated by saying; "um, Luc? You're the one making it glorified."

Lucy couldn't come up in that moment what to say, in response she muttered: "Oh you- shut up Niveus." And stomped off ahead. She seemed to be having a very bad day. A very bad day indeed.

"Ah-!" Gu-, wait up!" Niveus chased after her. He wondered where she intended on bringing them to eat. He knew of a certain café he wanted to visit but it was always very exciting to witness what Lucy would decide. "Hey- Hey! I said slow down!... Wait up Lucy!~" He started to run even faster now, and knew that meanwhile up ahead Luc had already deducted a perfect place to eat.

I like this team too much to let them go completely. ^.^ I originally used these guys for PMD guild but when it closed decided to let them go instead of readily transfer them over to PMDU. I really didn't develop their characters too much in that guild, but by changing a few things around and turning them into a written team I'm hoping they'll be more fun to write stories about in the future.

They are for the group
