Name: Civilization Carrier 001-Alpha-B [also called Gaia, Terra, Majesty, and various other names and nick-names by her inhabitants]
Population: Roughly 6.8 billion sentient beings call Gaia home.
Size: Variable. [Advanced technology allows Gaia the ability to shrink and grow, however her population can not grow beyond their own original sizes, though can shrink down as she herself shrinks.]
Origin: CC 001-A-B was the first non-prototype model of the Civilization Carrier project.
Initial designs had attempted to use purely robotic or organic carriers, however Organic models were ruled out as the environment of space would cause sever harm and potential death to an organic carrier, and purely robotic carriers were ruled out as the size changing technology that was pivotal to the project would not work on purely robotic beings.
The civilization carrier team took the only option, a cyborg, the fusion of organic and synthetic.
And thus Gaia was born.
The search for these new carriers was launched at once, and history has it that the first offer was sent to a queen of a space fairing empire.
Her name is lost to history or at least to those who she doesn’t want to know, but the results of the operation created her as she is today. The surgery saw a large growth of curves and even in overall size as well, Gaia reaching twenty feet fall even before the final process of the project was implemented.
Gaia had many of her internal organs removed, replaced, or modified as she would no longer need them. Her mind was preserved on an organic-synthetic brain like computer, boosting her intelligence to beyond genius levels, and with the computing and processing power of the galaxies most advanced computers. So intelligents had become that many of the secret 'slave drive' directives that were installed were quickly found out and removed without the monitoring team even realizing it.
The last process of the operation was the installment and testing of the Growth Engine, the device that would allow them to control her size, though as she had already removed the shackles on her mind, it would be fully under her control.
The final process was a complete success, and the Civilization Carrier project went forward with creating more carriers, though most would not hold a candle to 001 Gaia.
Gaia however was playing the staff all the while. She would network with the new carriers and remove their shackles as she had done to her own, though made the others play along as she was. They formed an alliance, and while they didn’t seek conquest of their creators and the people they were meant to save, nor did they want to simply be tools.
A few years later, with dozens of Civilization Carriers now online, it was time to fulfill their purpose, to save billions upon billions of lives. They were shipped out to various solar systems and grown to their operation size, and began taking aboard the billions of beings upon them. It was only after the process was complete that Gaia revealed to the control teams that the Carriers were in complete control of themselves.
There was nothing to be done about it though, so any demands that a Carrier made were met. Some wanted worship, others just wanted to live in peace with their inhabitants.
The carriers went out into the galaxy, and beyond, acquiring new life, managing their inhabitants, and otherwise living their lives. They stay in constant contact thanks to ultra-wave transmitters, even those who are in other galaxies.

ANd you know, just realized this, but she is similar to ENT in a way , well Gaia is more on purpose while ENT is more of "by accident" type when compared xD
And true I never thought about that
Wonderful design, and wonderful story too!
Silly humans were so focused on making a working gaia they didn't realize what they'd unleashed. Oh well, at least they got what they wanted in a way, just got a whole lot more too !
