I really enjoyed making the organics in this and playing with the green color...my only complaint was that the green too forever to dry, but this allowed me to take my time with the piece and allowing it to come into its own.

I really like this. It's not something I'd necessarily do (I tend to shy away from geometric and symmetry) but I would hang this in my house.

very nice indeed... I hear ya about the drying times! It's so weird how some colours dry really fast and others take forever.

Question: how did you attach the masonite? Is it very secure? (I'm guessing woodglue or something but I'm curious to know for sure) I love the idea of it being a traditional oil painting but with low-relief elements.

Thanks!

I used an acrylic glue that I got at a crafts store. It's used in collage work. I can't remember the name of it right now...it's packed away in a box someone. It's pretty secure, I used a lot of glue and I scored the masonite before I glued it. I don't know if it was the best technique to use. I'm sure there are better ways of attaching masonite to canvas, but I don't know them.

ok, cool, thanks. :) I've used "Beats the Nail" woodglue in oil paintings before (the Aurora series in my gallery each have raised elements) and it sticks very securely, even if there's a layer of oil paint underneath. You can sculpt it or sand it, and it stays put.

Thanks for the info.

I like the geometric shapes; the straight lines contrast nicely with the flowing curls of the rest of the piece. There's something about the colour and movement that suggests an organic quality...
