Oil on Canvas

So this piece totally didn't turn out as expected. I don't know how to even describe the process. Anyway, this painting started out as a composition based on the shadows my window blinds caused on the blank canvas. I thought it was pretty awesome looking and did a quick painting as the sun moves surprisingly fast when you try to paint shadows. So there the composition sat for a few weeks while I was working on another painting. When I started to work on this one, I just didn't know where to take it. The lines and composition, though fun, really didn't fit my style and I didn't want to fight it just to finish a painting. It would have lacked purpose and looked forced. So I figured I'd just painting in the new style I'm working in and see what happens. I like the results A LOT. Anyway, I tried to get the lines to show up through the layers as best as I could, though you may not be able to see it in the photo.

Your comment made me think that you lost control - in a positive way - during painting resulting in a complex realization of your virtual interaction of environment, colors with brain activities, may be images of your experience ... knowledge ... GOOD WORK

I wouldn't say that I lost control, so much that I'm come to understand the nature of my style in the last year or so. A couple of years ago I may have just plowed through and would have fought with the painting to the point that I would not really like the results. I would have chalked it up as a learning experience for my style or some justification for it. For this one, I thought the straight lines were nifty and the composition had potential but with the curved vines and circles that I'm working with now it didn't really seem to warrant further exploration. I may come back to it later since I have some photos of it.

... no intension of embarrassing ... my impression: artists are permanently in a complementary interaction between their creativity and their skills of analyzing and translating the complex phenomena ... I´m looking forward to see "some photos" :) (Smile)

So I posted on my Tumblr the process for my painting:

I probably should have posted a journal too..I may bring it over, it's been a while since I have updated my journal here.
