Multiple sounds of the forest buzzed in Ocala's perked ears. She heard the leaves above in the trees rustling in the wind, the faint buzz of the insects around her, and the crunch of the undergrowth as her paws carried her along the Blutwald border. The fae's pale, citrine eyes casually flicked around and she took in her surroundings. She was alone on a simple border patrol, to remark the sprayed trees and possibly confront any suspicious loners.

However, Ocala was different from her packmates when it came to communicating with rogues. A typical Blutwald wolf had no mercy and would kill on command, or desire. They took no pleas for life into account and would lunge immediately, ending the loner's life. The blue/gray she-wolf was the opposite. She was a naturally kind-hearted wolf, a trait she had always witnessed as a child, for her mother had taught her the ways of being kind, forgiving, and loving.

But Ocala was not naive. She was keen on sensing the next moves of her counterpart and would not be tricked. She knew how to successfully defend herself against possible attacks.

As she carried on, a sudden, iron like scent filled her nostrils and her heart sank. Blood. She immediately feared that a fellow packmate was injured on a hunt or patrol.

"Wait.." She murmured outloud to herself as she bent her neck to sniff at the blood-stained grass. There was no familiar Blutwald scent that she recognized. Her eyebrows narrowed, and she confirmed that this was, indeed, a loner. "Rogues are on their own," she remembered her Alpha's harsh words and how she was listening to them from afar. She knew very well that if a loner was injured, it was their responsibility to care for themselves and that it was none of her business. However, Ocala felt her heart ache for the rogue. She was a caring, compassionate individual and the thought of a tired, lonely, and scared wolf out there made her whine, her ears flattening against the darker gray patch on her neck.

The best of the she-wolf eventually got to her. 'I could get killed for this,' she thought as her paws carried her across the border and she followed the trail of blood, her guard up, preparing for anything to happen.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

It had been a day or two since Alcatraz's fateful encounter with the brutal Blutwald male Ivan, and he had settled himself down in an old den some ways from the border but still within a mile. He could not travel very far anymore. His shoulder hurt so badly...

He looked at his wound from where he was curled up and he sniffed it gently. It still throbbed terribly. The sight just terrified the male. His skin for a patch as large as his paw was completely gone, revealing a sickly red surface underneath. He went to the river nearby several times a day to wash it off, biting back the intense pain that he felt each time. He could not tell if it was getting better or not.. he was just so afraid... could he survive such a large wound? Perhaps not deep, but its size would make it easily infected! Alcatraz had never been so afraid in his life, not since he was a puppy hiding from the attack of a rival pack on his home.

He padded outside of the den, deciding to go back to the river. He was unaware that his blood spots lead right to the river. His mind was far too scattered and frantic to think of such things, as he would in a normal state of mind.

He soon reached the river and waded his way inside, dipping his body down so the water flowed over his shoulder. He winced, gritting his teeth and enduring the intense pain. He hated that male.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

Ocala padded on, following the spots of blood and the scent that pooled her nose to the brim. As she walked, her heart pounded like a frantic caged bird inside of her chest. She was terrified of the thought of Roman popping out of the bushes, aggressively accusing her of passing the borders, which is strictly illegal in Blutwald.

Eventually, the blood trail became so stale and dry that it was nearly impossible to find it. She grew frustrated and searched the ground with her eyes and nose, accidently inhaling a lose strand of grass into her nostrils. She sneezed loudly and groaned in annoyance; she had come out all this way for nothing!

Then she saw it. Fresh red blood splattered on the undergrowth. She silently applauded her keen eyes and trotted over and took in the scene with her nose.

The scent of the rogue was incredibly fresh, so fresh that it made her heart thump. 'He was here not even five minutes ago,' she thought, and with a deep breath, followed the trail.

And there he was. Bathing in the water of the small river, with his head poking over the surface. Ocala stayed in the thicket, observing the male in silence. Her face was completely expressionless and her ears were perked in intent. She knew that her scent was downwind so the loner wouldn't detect her presence.

Then she did something crazy. She slowly padded forward and emerged into the sunlight, revealing herself completely.

"Are you alright?" Her feminine voice called out. She just prayed that this male was friendly.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz was busy feeling sorry for himself, growling at the pain and scraping at the riverbed with his paws. The sound of a voice made adrenaline pump through his body and he leaped up out of the river instinctual before whirling around to face whoever it was who spoke. His fur was bristled and his pale sand-baked yellow eyes were flaring with rage mixed with fear. "Don't you take one step closer!" he snapped, his tail tip twitching. He could not afford another fight. Even the quick move he had made to jump on the riverbank sent pain burning through his shoulder and body. But his fear pushed its way before the pain.

He assessed the wolf who had appeared. She was a female, pale blue-gray pelt. Her voice was soft as she asked if he was alright. He narrowed his eyes suspiciously at how easily she had just walked out by the river. Alcatraz was never one to overreact, or react at all in the appearance of another. But now he feared for his life, and fear turned even the calmest wolves into crazy killers. She could surely see his wound, and could he fight her off right now? Pfft, of course! But then.... he had been wrong before.... he thought back to his terrifying experience he had just a day or two ago...

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"I'm not going to hurt you!" Ocala stated and decided that it was best if she waited a while before attempting to approach the aggressively fearful brute. Nothing about her presence seemed hostile. Her tail was limp, her fur was flat against her stocky body and her eyes were soft, calm and friendly. She observed his shoulder wound and winced in empathy, only trying to imagine how much pain he was in. Perhaps it was infected. A large wound like that could easily became infected and the bacteria could spread to his heart and -

'Stop. You're overthinking. And besides, he's not your problem anyways.' The self conflicting fae knew that, deep down, she was concerned for the stranger's well being and no matter how hard she wanted to turn around on the journey here, she kept herself going because this was a life that she could possibly save, or a day that she could make.

Ocala noticed how tall and muscular the male was. Being a short girl, she was probably half his height, and this intimidated her. In fact, she had always been more wary of the opposite sex than she did with females.

"I'm from a pack not too far from here," she called out, her voice still calm and friendly, "And I see you're hurt. I can help you."

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz slowly began to calm down, realizing exactly how small she was. He surely could still beat her in a fight. But she did not appear aggressive anyway. Still, he narrowed his eyes as she said she was from a pack not too far from here. "Yes, I know you are!" he growled, "The pack that did this to me." he flashed his glaring wound at her then lowered his head, bearing his huge teeth. "Why should I trust a thing you say?" She seemed kind and friendly, but he didn't know her at all! For all he knew that was her plan. She would act all innocent and polite, get into a wolf's comfort zone, and then snuff them out with some infectious treatment they claimed was the cure. One less wolf for her pack to worry about. Despicable! Disgraceful! He was getting himself worked up. He was jumping to conclusions, of course, but in his quite fuzzy mindset and fear of a slow painful death, Alcatraz was incredibly paranoid.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

When the male revealed to her that a member of her own pack had inflicted that awful wound, Ocala felt her heart sink deep into her chest and throb. She had no doubt in her mind that it was Ivan. That terrible brute was always prowling the Blutwald borders and beyond, searching for a life to steal, or to hurt. She snorted at the thought of her packmate, as she had no real place in her huge, loving heart for him. At least not at the moment.

"Because I'm not like my fellow packmate." She spoke in the honest truth, her voice filled with honour and empathy, her sun kissed gaze never leaving the chocolate male's face. Ocala knew she was small, but she had the bravery of a true Alpha. "I know this is tough for you, but you need to trust me. I promise I will not hurt you. Does it look like I can, anyways?" She giggled, allowing a small ice breaker into the conversation. "Besides, with a wound like that, I may be your only hope." Ocala added, hoping her comment wouldn't incredibly offend the male. However, it was true; a deep wound like that would become infected in a matter of days and without proper care, it would kill the brute. Ocala was no medicine wolf, but thankfully her mother taught her how to successfully clean and treat a wound that was prone to becoming infected.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz narrowed his eyes at her. "You have a smooth tongue, female." he growled distrustfully. He listened to her words. Being as conceited as he normally was and still coming to terms with the fact that he was not completely independent, he snorted. "I don't need you." he mumbled stubbornly, glaring away from her a moment.

But then... how could he be more humiliated than he was right now...? He looked uncertainly at his wound. It was not getting better... he would be in trouble if he didn't accept help... when no other option presented itself to him, the broken male hung his head in shame and defeat. Depending on a tiny pack she-wolf to take care of him... he was a disgrace. "Fine." he rumbled. "But if you intend to kill me do it quick. I will kill you before you can, if given the chance." The prospect of dying was almost more appealing that accepting her help. Almost.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

A small smile brightened Ocala's young, pretty face as the male finally accepted her help. He looked embarrassed, but that did not bother her in anyway. "Great." The blue fae cautiously approached the taller chocolate coloured canine on light paws, prepared to bolt to the side and avoid any snapping teeth or claws. However, her posture was calm and friendly, and her tail was gently swishing from side to side. "Now, you've already cleaned your wound with the water to get rid of any yucky bacteria in there that could cause an infection. We definitely don't want that. So now we just need to bandage it up so it won't be exposed to any dirt."

Her kind amber eyes wandered, her keen gaze searching for any moss. Aha! She bounded over towards a tall pine where thick moss was stuck to the base of the trunk. Perfect. With gentle paws, she torn off a chunk of the thick lichen just big enough to completely cover the male's wound. She carried the moss in her mouth with incredibly soft jaws so she wouldn't break it. Placing it at his big paws, she padded back to her original place and began hunting for a thick cobweb. Once she spotted a fat web, her eyes darted along it, searching for the giant spider responsible for this masterpiece. She puffed air out of her maw and sent the arachnid flying off his home without destroying the it. Ocala noticed how thick the web was. This would come in handy for securing his bandage.

Wrapping the web around her small, delicate forepaw, she pranced back to the injured wolf and got to work. With one paw, she gently placed the hunk of moss onto his clean wound, then took her other paw and stuck the web on the moss, then began to wind her paw around his forearm. Once complete, she stood back and looked proud. This was the first time she had ever put her first aid training into action, and she thought she did a damn well job.

"There! Good as new," Ocala grinned, her gaze traveling up into the male's.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz watched her through eyes narrowed critically. She took moss and gave it to him. He held it. He thought about snapping at her again, but he had agreed for her to help so he ought to just keep his mouth shut right now. Finally she returned with the cobwebs and began fixing the moss on his shoulder. He winced. "Oww.. ow!" he growled, flinching a few times as she attached the moss. But he stopped himself from lashing out. Maybe this was his only hope.

Soon it was placed on and Alcatraz sniffed the bandage cynically, then looked at Ocala. "Except I look like a wet rock." he growled scornfully. He got to his paws, unable to put weight on that leg right now. He glanced down at the little female, but he was not angry with her. She had been very kind. He was angry at himself for being in this situation, and all the humiliation he faced. "I supposed.... I should thank you." he said, sounding defeated like he had lost a battle of wills as he hung his head in a bow to her.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

Little by little, Ocala observed the brute's hostile walls crumbling before her, and this quite pleased her, knowing that she this male could trust her.

"There's no need to thank me," the little wolf's tail flicked back and forth in glee, a smile still planted on her maw, "I was just helping." A sudden thought came to her mind; did the male have a place to stay? Did he form a den somewhere that he could call home? Her eyebrows suddenly narrowed and her smile faded. No. She was overthinking the situation and she needed to remove herself from him and return to her pack territory. What she done was in kindness, but kindness was not truly reflected upon in Blutwald, which disappointed her greatly.

"I should probably get going. My Alpha is probably looking for me - I've been on my patrol for far too long now." She mumbled, her paws shuffling, as she sounded like a child afraid of their relentless parent. "Are you going to be okay now?" The fae met her gaze with his once more, honest sympathy and concern clear in her citrine pools.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz lifted his head to look at her. He liked that she was not mocking or conceited. She seemed genuinely concerned and did not judge his condition. It was surprising, but made him feel more at ease.

He dipped his head as she said she ought to get going, "Yes... you ought to. Don't get in trouble because of me." he growled. If the leader was anything like Ivan, he did not want this little female caught in his jaws. Her heart was too kind to have to deal with that.

He nodded, "Yes... I'll be fine." he said, avoiding her gaze. He would continue washing it and wrapping it as Ocalahad done. Hopefully between those two, he would be able to recover in that small abandoned den he had found. Or better yet, maybe he could feel well enough to travel tomorrow or the next day so he could keep heading north, far away from this terrifying place.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"Can I, at least, know your name?" The cheekiest and most adorable grin squinted Ocala's tender gaze and exposed bright white canines, ones that she never used upon canine flesh. For some unknown reason, she desired to know this young male's name. Perhaps for future reasons, or the simple thought of knowing the name of the loner she had helped, and quite possibly, saved.

However, she couldn't help but allow her mind to wander off, imagining Ivan ripping a chunk out of this poor male's shoulder, then laughing maniacally as the injured wolf sprinted off, panting in fear. God. Ivan was such an asshole.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz looked at her wearily as she asked him his name. He normally never rejected an offer to share his name, so sure he was that he could handle anything and whether or not a wolf knew who he was did not matter. But he was questioning everything now. Still, he at least owed her the courtesy of a name, didn't he? After everything she has done? "Alcatraz." he said, his heart feeling as if it were ripping at the thought that she would now know his name and associated with a wolf who was weak, defeated, useless, defenseless... he narrowed his eyes with anger and frustration. How had this even happened to him?

He looked back at the pale she-wolf. "And yous?" he asked.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"My name is Ocala." The fae replied and she courteously dipped her head before the male, showing a sign of her respect for him. However, she felt a small pain in her heart - since she was new and so different from her packmates, Ocala lacked companionship and really had no friends. Alcatraz was the only canine that she had ever had a connection with since she joined the Blutwald ranks. Now that their short time together was drawing to an unfortunate close, she was disappointed and somewhat hurt.

Lifting her head back up, Ocala flashed a tender smile. "Well, Alcatraz, it was a pleasure helping you. I wish you safety and a swift recovery. Take care." She murmured, turned tail, and began padding back towards the thicket where she had originally been spying on him. She had a rough idea of how to return back to the Blutwald territory; just to follow her own scent trail.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz dipped his head, finally beginning to calm down and accept that she indeed did have the best intentions. "Ocala." he repeated. It was an unusual name, almost as unusual as his. But it was pretty and sounded nice to the ears.

She wished him a safe and swift recover and he blinked slowly at her, "Yes, thank you for your assistance. It is much appreciated." he said, realizing that this she-wolf could have just saved his life. But then... he didn't know that yet. At least she had tried, and for that he was grateful. "May you return home safely." he said after her as she bounded away. He hoped she didn't get in trouble because she had come all this way to help him... he turned away, heading back for his temporary den for a nice long nap.

Woo! I had my first roleplay with Ocala! :D I was really excited and I loved the way that this turned out.

So, Ocala of Blutwald finds and tends to Alcatraz, who Ivan had recently attacked and severely injured. Ocala is not meant to be a medicine wolf, but she knows the basics of cleaning and treating a deep wound.
