coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

Blood rang loudly in the canine's ears as she silently slid through the tall blades of emerald grass, her ebony tipped ears flat against her silk flank. Her paws stopped and her piercing amber gaze slowly rose above the grass, ears remaining absolutely flat and her entire body still.

There it was. Looking succulent and delicious. Grazing on the grass then raising its head, chewing its food without thought. The doe's ears flicked. 'Ah. Good. She has no idea I'm here,' Ocala's voice echoed in her mind as she observed the female deer's behaviour. It was unaware of the huntress' presence and, with glee, Ocala took note that it did not have a fawn following at its hooves. So, to her, it was fair game.

Seconds later, the small yet incredibly speedy she-wolf tore out of the grass, her jaws snapping in hunger and her mouth salivating. The doe bolted away, running a bit faster than Ocala had expected. But not too fast for her. Due to the fact that she was smaller than most of her packmates, Ocala's agility was superior to others. Also, she could run for a longer time than others, allowing her to cross more distance in a shorter amount of time.

However, she noticed that she was not catching up to her prey. Snarling in frustration, the pale wolfess gripped all of the muscles in her body and pounded the earth harder and faster. Her tongue hung out of the side of her mouth as she panted heavily. This was tough work, even for her. She didn't know how much longer she could keep this up for.

The doe gallantly leapt across a rotten log which almost caught Ocala by surprise. However, just in time, she ascended over the fallen tree and snapped her teeth together, agitated.

Wildfire-Tama said the following:

It had been a short while since Alcatraz's run in with the Blutwald brute Ivan and he was beginning to recover and the sharp, burning pain was mostly gone. Just soreness and stiffness remained. He was so relieved that it appeared he would survive this one... but boy was he hungry! He walked with a slight limp as he trotted in the forest nearby where he had made his den. His sand baked yellow eyes were narrowed as they flicked around and his nose was twitching as he sniffed for something, anything, to eat.

And then a loud rustling sounded in the forest nearby. He crouched low and stalked toward the sound. Before he even had time to plan a proper approach, he spotted the deer bolting toward him. He ducked into the nearby bushes, his eyes hungrily on the graceful creature as it raced right to him in a panic. Alcatraz had no idea what had scared the deer, but all he knew is that this was such a lucky situation and he could starve if he did not take advantage! Yes it could injure him more, but surely that was worth having a full meal to help him recover even faster.

His timing perfect from years of hunting experience, he sprang with his powerful back legs. With a ferocious snarl, the deer's throat was in his crushing jaws. It let out a fearful cry, cut short as Alcatra'z huge teeth sank into its wind pipe. Alcatraz let go as the deer came tumbling to the ground to avoid being injured by the dying body. He landed neatly on the ground and sprang again as the deer hit the ground, biting down again on the neck to finish the job. He lifted his bloody muzzle, a triumphant smirk on his face. This deer would feed him for a week! But he only planned on eating to his satisfaction today. Tonight in the cover of darkness he would leave for the northwest.

----------

coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

As Ocala's paws began to slow down, the doe disappeared through the brush and the exhausted canine's heart sank. 'I can't believe this is happening,' her mind echoed, her voice loud in frustration. Only once in her lifetime had she ever lost her prey in a chase, and she was much younger and less experienced when this occurred. But now that she was older.. Ocala felt her heart sank. She was pathetic.

Like a god send, the sudden bellowing cry of the deer sounded not too far away. Maybe it fell and somehow broke it's delicate leg... Deciding to take advantage of the situation, Ocala bolted towards the cry, finding new strength in her muscles, a sinister grin on her jaws.

But as the doe came vividly into view, the she-wolf's paws stopped her completely. The iron scent of blood was thick in the air and she watched as a hungry Alcatraz ripped and tore into her prey's flesh, gulping, then repeating. She had to admit, a part of her was excited to see the loner once again, but she also felt shame burn in her heart.

"So I see you survived the wound," her kind voice suddenly sounded as she placed her behind on the warm earth, ears perked in intent. She say only a few feet away from the rogue.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz was busy eating when a voice tickled his ear. Instinctively he whirled around with his bloody teeth bared. He relaxed as he recognized the pale she-wolf. "Oh, it's you. Ocala." he growled, "I apologize, was this your deer?" He was beginning to be more himself, polite and respectful, although his gaze still looked weary and his voice guarded. It would take some time for him to truly return to normal.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"Ah, yes and no," the fae shrugged her shoulders, "It was mine when I was in my territory, but now that I'm out it's obviously free game. And you got it." For a moment, she looked around. They were placed in a clearing, surrounded by thickets and tall, eerie pines. Despite the scary border, the clearing itself was beautiful. A patch of purple wildflowers were at Ocala's paws. This confirmed she was outsude of Blutwald territory, for she had never been exposed to this land yet.

Her eyes returned to Alcatraz's. "Well, enjoy your meal. I'll leave you be if you'd like."

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz stepped off the deer. "You chased it to me, and the reason I could catch it at all. There is plenty and I will never finish it all before I leave tonight. Please, join me." he said. He would not feel right making her leave at this point. She was the whole reason it had run right to him in such a panic. He noted the beautiful scenery around them with a small smile. Now that he was beginning to recover mentally from his ordeal, he was becoming his old self again.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"Are you sure?" Ocala remained seated, her eyes focused strictly on Alcatraz. She had to admit that she was awfully hungry, but she had no problem returning to Blutwald territory and finding a hare to snack on.

Then, she realized what he said. "Wait.. you're leaving tonight?" Her voice sounded hurt and her gaze pooled with sadness.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz nodded curtly, "Yes, unless you'd rather it all go to the crows." he said, bowing his head to take another ravenous gulp. He perked his ears as she asked in surprise about his leaving. He lifted his head again, licking the blood off his dark muzzle. His pale yellow eyes narrowed in confusion at the hurt in her voice. Did he owe her something? Well he supposed he did, now that he thought about it. She had helped him dress his wound. "I am. What's it to you? Here, take the whole kill if that'll make us even." He offered.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"No, I.." She couldn't help but feel a little crushed by Alcatraz's news. Besides her uncle, the loner was truly the only friend that she had. Their relationship was an odd one by many means, but in Ocala's eyes, Alcatraz was a friend. But such is life, rogue wolves moved on to different places. It was extremely rare that they stayed in one place. Ocala had been a loner for a short period of time in her life and she knew the lifestyle of one.

With a polite smile, the Blutwald female plopped herself down beside him and began to feast, forgetting how truly hungry she was. Her teeth ripped into the doe, splashing fresh, bright red blood all over her face and chest. Mmmm, so attractive.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz laughed harshly at her crushed tone as she tried to defend herself but soon gave up. Did she really think he would hang around here? "You think I would stay with vicious filth like your pack mates running around?" he rolled his shoulder as he thought back to Ivan. It was stiff, but he was confident now that it would heal and he would recover. "You're pack is crazy." he growled as he focused back on the bounty before them. He took some more gulps of food, scooting over a bit to give Ocala room as she tore ferociously at the bloody meat.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

The wolfess paused at his cold, harsh words. "My pack is not filth, thank you very much," she growled and for a moment, actually looked intimidating, with blood dripping from her muzzle and her eyes dangerously narrowed at him. "Some people make poorer choices than others. Just because one wolf hurt you doesn't mean that everyone else from Blutwald would. Did I?" She snorted, and suddenly didn't feel so hungry anymore. "Believe it or not, Alcatraz, not every single member of my pack are blood thirsty killers. My uncle certainly is not. His mate isn't." The pale wolf, secretly hurt by his words, lifted herself from the ground and took a couple steps back, her ears flat against her skull and a hidden upset look in her sharp eyes.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz glared at her. She was right, of course, and he knew that. But he was still pretty miffed about what had happened to him, and not completely back to his reasonable self. His tail tip twitched. She looked angry now, especially with all that blood dripping from her muzzle. Alcatraz was glad she was smaller than him or else he may actually be alarmed. he decided to apologize, though, for her was indeed in the wrong, and she looked awful upset. "Alright, alright, keep your fur on. I'm sorry." he growled, turning back to the doe and taking more huge gulps of meat.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

To her ultimate surprise, he actually apologized. Ocala didn't take him for the type to apologize for his words or actions. Maybe he was changing for the better after all.

"It's alright, I'm sorry I got so upset," she flashed a fully hearted, tired smile. Feeling her belly rumble in hunger once again, Ocala returned to her feeding place beside Alcatraz and continued her feast, filling her stomach to a comofortavle limit. She didn't wat to feel too full when she returned back to Blutwald.

Once she finished, she quickly groomed the dried blood from her muzzle and chest, then began to playfully roll around in the tall grass and patches of wildflowers, laughing carelessly. The sunshine felt so good on her flank. She laid on her back and soaked up the sun. "The weather is lovely today," she spoke, her eyes shut in comfort.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz grunted at her apology as he ate. It took him a while after the she-wolf was done to finally eat to his fullest. But he also gorged himself, since he was unsure when his next meal would come, and knew that it would be difficult for him to hunt on his bad shoulder.

Finally he stepped back and settled down to digest. He glanced at Ocala as she rolled around in the flowers and commented on the weather. "Yes, quite nice." he agreed, his eyes narrowed as he began to doze in the sunlight. It would be a perfect night to travel, warm and quiet. He was very much enjoying this moment, though, with the soothing sunshine, the lovely scenery, and friendly company. He looked back at Ocala. "Will you be bringing this kill back to your pack?" he asked. He didn't care either way, since he was done with it. But he would offer to help her drag it some of the way, since she was not the largest wolf. Not all the way, though, of course, since he wanted nothing to do with Blutwald.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

Considering his question, Ocala lifted her head to glance over at their kill. Most of the carcass was stripped to the bone, due to it being a smaller doe than usual. Probably a bit older than a fawn.

"No, it's not enough. I'll catch a hare on my territory and bring it back to Roman or something," Ocala decided, ear flicking. She knew that her Alpha would appreciate it, due to his poor performance lately. The ashen fae flopped her head back into the undergrowth and sighed loudly, feeling the sun soak through her flank and pool warmth into her young, strong bones.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz shrugged. "Very well." he said. She was right. There was not much left of the carcass, especially after all he had eaten. He tucked his front paws under his thick chest fur. "So no alpha hunting you today?" he asked her, glancing at her sideways as he recalled their last meeting when she had to leave so urgently in fear her alpha would know she left the borders.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"Hopefully not," Ocala replied in a careless tone. She was far too relaxed to even think about her Alpha searching for her. Roman was simply too old for those games, his bones ached and he was beginning to lose his hearing and sight. "My alpha is old," she added, "all he does is lay in his den and deal with aching joints. Makes me kind of nervous about getting old." Ocala admitted, but she still bathed in the sunshine, surrounded by wildflowers, with not a single care in the world. She was enjoying the now, and she certainly did not want to think of the future, or the idea of getting caught by a higher rank in loner territory.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz nodded. "Well, stay active and working and you can run from aging for a while." he said. Inactivity was the worst thing, just letting you waste away into dust. "And that way, maybe you'll even die before you have to deal with it." he said, although it was impossible to tell if he was joking or not.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

Not taking his comment literally, Ocala giggled. "Very true. Hopefully that happens." She joked, a playful grin on her muzzle. "So, when are you leaving?" She rolled onto her side to gaze at her companion, eyes tender and caring. She flicked her ears, dismissing a couple flies that were searching her for exposed tissue instead of the carcass sitting a couple feet away from them. 'I should really get going soon before anyone notices that I'm gone,' Ocala thought to herself.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz yawned widely as he felt his stomach growl a bit as it digested his large meal. He opened one eye to look at the pale she-wolf, and her gentle gaze on him, before he answered. "Tonight." he closed his eye again and dozed in the sun. He did not usually like the great heat, but for some reason it brought comfort to him as he was recovering from his injury. "It is easier to travel safely at night from both enemies and overheating." He never would have cared about running into other wolves before, but he was still recovering mentally from the aftermath of his run in with Ivan.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"And in the night, it's much easier to be unnoticed." Ocala added to her companion's words. A sudden thought entered her mind; she wondered how easy it would be to slip away from Blutwald in the darkness of the night on silent paws, slipping away through the thicket, completely vanishing into the moon's mysterious, pale light... She dismissed the idea with a quick shake of her head. Ocala could never abandon her uncle, for she knew of his future plans and what he had in store for Blutwald. She had to admit that she didn't care for the current culture of her pack, but it was the first group of wolves she had stumbled upon and sworn her loyalty to. Besides, she knew that the social policies of Blutwald was soon to be changed, into something that she would appreciate and practice more.

"I was once a loner myself, you know," The fae said with a cheeky grin, "I know what it's like to defend for yourself. I did it for a good year until I found Blutwald."

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz nodded his dark head. "Exactly." he said with a twitch of his tail. He looked at Ocala curiously as she said she was once a loner. "Hm, really now." he said, "How did you get yourself welcomed into this pack? They are not too kind to outsiders." he growled.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"Well, thankfully one of the nicer guards found me," Ocala stated, seeing the image in her head, the day of her arrival at Blutwald, "And when they took me to Roman, his pain was just starting. He was too busy focusing on his pain and suffering to even bother testing my strength or anything. He looked me over for a bit then accepted me. Honestly, I don't even think he cared," the blue fae laughed carelessly, the cheeky grin on her muzzle remaining. "I traveled a lot before I found Blutwald. I saw the very top of the mountains and everything." Her nose pointed towards the glorious elevations in the distance, looking magnificent and almost religious-like.

"I ran into a few wolves that weren't as nice," she shrugged her small shoulders, "But what can you do? I guess mountain wolves aren't as nice. A few of them wore feathers and had dyes in their fur. It was really weird, actually." Ocala briefly remembered the tribal wolves, who snapped their powerful jaws at her as she fled from their territory. They had chased her away, clearly not being the warm-welcome type.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz nodded, "Roman, hm?" That must be the alpha... and he was weak. He wondered who would be taking over after he was gone. Someone less brutal perhaps. "Do you know who the new alpha will be?" Alcatraz asked her.

He perked his ears at the mention of the mountains. "Hm, really now?" he asked. He loved magnificent and beautiful sights. He made a mental note... he would have to travel there at some point. As for the mountain wolves... Alcatraz decided that perhaps he would travel there later... he was a bit sick and tired of fighting by now, as his wounded shoulder suggested. He had been so lucky for his speedy recovery.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

For a moment, Ocala considered spilling all of her uncle's plans to overthrow Roman and taking over Blutwald. She trusted Alcatraz, but not enough with her family secrets. Besides, he could accidently tell another wolf and it would spread like wildfire, and it could come back to Stallion... and to Roman. Ocala shuddered at the thought of what the Alpha would do to her uncle if he found out."No. But my uncle is basically Roman's right paw, so maybe he will pass on the role of Alpha to him before he passes away." This wasn't exactly a lie, and Ocala felt comfortable speaking. It was a possibility.

"The undeclared territories of the mountains were gorgeous," she said with a smile, "I was considering settling down there and starting a new pack by myself." She giggled at the thought of being an Alpha. Yeah right!

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz nodded. Her uncle... he was the good one, right? He thought he remembered he saying that... "He's a decent wolf?" Alcatraz asked, just to make perfectly sure that Blutwald would soon be under better leadership. Then no longer would the young male have to fear coming near.

He gave her a long look. "You're a little young to be an alpha, wouldn't you say?" he said dryly, turning and licking his paws to clean them.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

"Yes, my uncle is more than decent." Ocala nodded her blue and tan head reassuringly. Stallion was a type of wolf that would not let anything get in the way of his ambitions and he did, in fact, own a killing streak and his appearance was eerie and blood chilling. However, Ocala knew that her kin had good intentions deep down, and he treated females like gold, which was a huge plus.

Laughing at Alcatraz's comment, she briefly imagined herself as an Alpha. She would be too lenient and would get walked all over. "I was a lot younger when I considered that," the Delta admitted, "I was about a year and a half. Even now, I'm far too young to be a leader. Besides, I don't want to be one anyways. Too much responsibility and stress. I'm good," she giggled.

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz nodded. "Hmph. Good." he said. Although hopefully he would still never meet the he-wolf. He never planned to run into pack wolves, and usually stayed out of their borders unless it was necessary for some reason to stray into them. And even then, he left as quickly as possible.

Alcatraz huffed in amusement, "Smart girl." he said. He had no intention either. Not so much because he would not make a good alpha, although it was difficult to say whether he would or not. But he would have problems with the thought of losing those that he loved, and if he were alpha he would feel like it was his fault every time a pack mate was harmed, since he was the one responsible for them. Alcatraz didn't seem it, but deep down he cared deeply for his friends and those he trusted.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

Ocala felt as if she could stay here and converse with the chocolate loner all day, but she know that she was needed back in her camp. Her uncle would probably go looking for her if he realized that she had been missing for a long time. And who knows how long she had been here with Alcatraz; the time was flying by and she was having fun. Her soft sun-kissed eyes lifted to the cloudless sky above and she heaved a heavy sigh.

"I think it's time for me to go," The little wolfess murmured, then dropped her muzzle to gaze back at Alcatraz. "And I suppose you want to nap before your long journey tonight."

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz looked at her as she spoke and then glanced back in the direction of his makeshift den as she said he would probably want a nap. That was a pretty good idea, now that she mentioned it. He looked back at her. "Yes... a nap would be a fine idea." he said, getting to his paws.

He cleared his throat uncomfortable as he prepared to do something very hard for him... "Er... thank you... for helping me." he said. Alcatraz was still so embarrassed about what had happened that he had difficulty speaking about it in the smooth and confident way he usually spoke.

----------
coffeecatsandcigs said the following:

Did he just... thank her? Alcatraz had only thanked Ocala once and that was when she had wrapped up his injured shoulder. Had she broken a wall that he put up? An affectionate smile lifted her muzzle and she accepted his thank you, briefly bowing her head before him.

"You're very welcome, Alcatraz," she cooed, looking up at him with sparking amber eyes. "I hope you have a safe journey."

----------
Wildfire-Tama said the following:

Alcatraz met her gaze, uncertain as he saw the happiness sparkling inside her amber gaze. But he supposed it wasn't a bad thing, however much he insisted to himself that trust was never a good idea. He managed a gentle smile before dipping his head back at her, "Yes, well. You take care, Ocala." he gave her one last blink of his pale yellow eyes before turning and stalking away, toward his den. He did not look back.

Another roleplay between Wildfire-Tama and I between Ocala and Alcatraz! Unfortunately I don't think they'll meet again for a long time, since Al is in Kausen territory now. :c
