To Forgive

Description

Throwing on her dress while trying to avoid causing any wrinkles to appear. Seemingly there were no wrinkles in sight. Just to be sure she examined every inch of the dress to spot any crease and folds that could be easy to miss. There was none.

Jane strolled over to the mirror and gazed upon her reflection. Albeit, feeling unsettled. The glass rippled revealing her young Wyngling self.
Every time she reminisce about her bratty days as a kid she'd hate herself even more. Despite Alvern helped mold her into a better Wyngro.

If she was honest, never once has a day gone by where she felt if she has truly changed. Continuously feeling haunted if her previous nature would emerge...

In the mirror the young Jane had a snobbish laughter that was defined as obnoxious, a spoiled behavior that many would find distasteful, and a very demanding and poised personality that was more than overbearing. Additionally manipulating others to do her dirty work for her. She couldn't stand that this was who she used to be. But what's important is that ass of a brat is no more.

"That child no longer exists..." was her words to the reflection portraying her former Wyngling self.

The glass rippled once more. Revealing the adult brown female whom stands in front of it. She took a deep breath. "It's time to make things right."

Jane exits Alvern's home without making a sound that could draw attention to his Runeboo or brother. She couldn't afford to have anyone tag along with her. She needed to go alone...

Nervous tension was building up inside of her. One hand was anxiously tapping the side of her thigh while the other was raised up close to her mouth where her small claws were lightly being pressed inside.

It's been so long since the last time she has seen him. After witnessing that horrific outburst that altered the atmosphere completely she hasn't dared to set foot anywhere near his presence, fearing that he'll react like that again. But probably worse. Maybe even physical.

The more she reflect back on it, Jane knew that in her mind that she damned well deserved it and had it coming.

She knows now that she was in the wrong throughout the confrontation.
It's precisely why she's heading to the Nook. To make up for her wrongdoings, for the nasty words that flew out of her mouth that offended him, for everything that she had no right to do for whatever reason she felt had to be done.

A good soul such as he did not deserve that type of treatment. Albeit one whom is vile enough manages to find a way to make it happen...

The Nook was in her sight. Though her anxious thoughts continued to crawl up on her, she won't be able to feel at ease with herself until she has made amends.

Once she approached the Nook she saw an adult Wyngro playing with a red Wyngling whom had a ponytail. It was rather adorable. She couldn't help but grin from watching.

She didn't want to interrupt their playful interaction, but had to ask a small question to the adult to assist her find someone whom she is looking for. Then she'll take her leave.

"Excuse me" Jane politely interrupted.

The adult and the Wyngling ceased their play time where their attention met a brown female in a beautiful green dress. The red Wyngling gazed at her dress in awe. It was very pretty on her.

"My apologies for interrupting. But by any chance you've seen or possibly met a Wyngro whom goes by the name-"

"Lady Jane? Is that you?"

"Huh?" She blinked. Astonished that this adult knew her name and who she was. "Er... Y-You among others may not know this but I simply go by Jane now. Although, how do you know my..."

"Jane, it's me! Kurt!" He eagerly announced.

Jane blinked a few times before heeding the grabby tail tucked behind him. Realizing it really was him. His facial fur and hair made him almost unrecognizable. Yet, also handsome if she might add.

Still, this was quite bewildering for her all the same. Jane didn't expect Kurt to go through such a stunning transformation upon adulthood. Not to say she expected something completely different. His chubbiness was well anticipated, though. He did used to eat a lot of cookies when he was young...

"Hello there, pretty lady!!" The red Wyngling eagerly ran up hopping around Jane's legs. "I'm Ryner!! You're very pretty! Are you one of Kurt's friends! Kurt's my friend, but he's more like a big brother since he constantly visits me and even plays with me! Did you know Kurt has a thing for touching the butts of both girls and guys? Did you know that he's clever at making puns? I'm pretty sure most of the jokes he tells me tends to fly right over my head, though. Oh! Oh!! And did you know that he likes to prank some guy named Eppard by putting bugs in his pillows to scare him?"

"O-Oh! Um...!" Jane couldn't keep up with the red Wyngling's spontaneous energy. Nor could she respond to any of her questions.

"Oh yeah!! And did you know that one time Kurt stretched his leg out so far- And I mean REALLY far that he-" a grabby tail pulled her away keeping her from finishing that sentence.

"Alright! That's enough out of you, Ryner." Kurt pouts, annoyed.

Jane held in a laugh when Ryner was about to spill something embarassing about Kurt. However, she wanted to stay fixated on why she was keen on searching for him in the first place.

"Kurt. If you don't mind, I'd like to speak to you. Alone, please."

Kurt's brows rose upward. "O-Oh. Sure. No problem." He turns to Ryner. "Mind giving us some space until we're done?"

"No worries! We can finish our game afterwards!" Ryner ran off inside back in to the Nook to give the two adults some respected privacy.

"So..." His grabby tail scratches the back of his head. "You said you need to speak to me, huh? It's certainly been a long time since the last time I saw you. But, hey! We're both grown adults now! And I came out more dashing than I expected! I have to tell ya- It's definitely the facial fur that makes me appealing than ever" he gloated. "I think my boy Eppard is trying to beat me in who has the most dashing and stunning hair of them all~ Spoilers; it's me, of course. Go figures!"

"And man! Ever since I became an adult, I barely see enough men, women, or anyone have enough cheeks for me to feel if you know what I mean! Talk about disappointing! My recommendation, doing squats can help with that. Guaranteed."

Everything about him was beginning to make her feel uneasy. He's clearly still... the same Kurt. But has he forgotten all the shit she's caused him in the past? The names she spat at him out of spite? How she treated his friends? Her condescending attitude towards him and practically everyone she met? Even when they were in the bathroom of the Nook where she provoked him, causing him to be immensely furious with her?

It didn't make sense as to why he's being so casual towards her. Nothing did.

Jane tilted her head down as well as her ears falling back. She hugged her arms and her body began to tremble. Mouth was quivering struggling to say a word.

It's strange. Day after day of rehearsing this to herself knowing the day will come. Now it's as if all of a sudden she's unable to figure out how to let the words come out the way they should.

"Jane? What's wrong?" Kurt asks of her. Concerned of her sudden shift in behavior.

The brown female couldn't say anything at first. Tears began to roll down passed her cheek fluff. There was a moment of silence...

"..rry..." She quietly uttered. Breaking the silent atmosphere.

"Come again?"

"S-S-Sorry..." She spoke up that time. Albeit, tone of voice was shaky. Raising her head up, face covered in tears.

"Sorry...! Sorry! I'm so, so sorry!! I'm so terribly sorry!!! Sorry for how often I mistreated you when we were kids! Sorry for making your friends think of you differently all because I found your behavior unacceptable!! Sorry for treating you poorly in general just because you were different and unique in your own ways that made your friends love you for it!!"

More tears were rolling down. Feeling remorseful about her past actions and rotten personality. Nothing but hatred towards herself and remorse of whom she used to be.

"I'M SORRY FOR EVERYTHING!!!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. Breathing was starting to become heavy and more tears were pouring.

Kurt remained silent through her entire apology. He wanted to wait until she was completely finished.

"Well?!" She shouted at him. "Say something! Be angry with me! Every last bit of rage and vexation!! I deserve it! Why do you choose to remain quiet towards the one Wyngro who was nothing but a bitch to you!? Why won't you-"

She was cut off from a sudden embrace. Kurt held her tight in his arms. His grip felt as if he refused to let go of her. Every feeling in Jane's body went numb. She couldn't move from the hug. Her mind went blank from Kurt's embrace.

"Jane" he spoke in a low but soft voice, "I don't hold anything against you."

She remained in his arms carefully listening to what he had to say.

"I talked to Kid some time ago. When he apologized for the wrongs he's committed in the past, I could feel that his words were bona fide. I'm not afraid to admit; I wanted to hate him for harassing Okola and for hurting Paloma. I truly wanted to."

He averted his eyes.

"However, if I allowed myself to hate someone and not give them a chance I would become blind. Blinded by my own hate and anger. Blind to never see that someone like him are capable of change. I didn't want any of that. There's nothing to gain by letting yourself hate someone for their wrongdoings that happened in the past. The past is the past. We are in the 'now.' I'd rather move forward and live in the presence and forgive someone when they've finally seen the errors of their ways."

He pulled Jane away from him, arms still wrapped around her. Staring at her with stern eyes. "That's what I'm going to do. It's the 'adult' thing to do. Leaving the past behind and focusing on the now. Forgive and forget is what they say."

His grabby tail gently wiped away the tears on her face. "And I'm sorry too. For my outburst that one time in the bathroom of the Nook."

Jane's ears sprang up. She shook her head at him. "No.. Your anger w-was justified. I was out of line. And I deserved it."

"I was still in the wrong, though" he added, "I felt your body trembling the whole time. You were scared. It wasn't right. I could've handled that better instead of letting my emotions get the better of me. That's why I'm sorry."

He brushes away her bangs. "I, was in the wrong too."

The female did not say another word afterwards. To her his apology wasn't needed. But it was clear that his guilt was consuming him from how he lashed out at her despite she deserved every ounce of it.

She brought herself closer to him. Resting her head against his fluffy chest, hugging him back. Tears still running. But was relieved, nonetheless.

Kurt embraced her. Grabby tail caressing the back of her hair.

Nothing else needed to be said.

Both adults have forgiven each other...

"Thank you, Kurt..."
