The Ketubah I designed for James, a good friend of my husband and I's from back in Colorado. (a Ketubah is a ritual marriage contract that is part of the Jewish tradition)
I blurred out the text because it is something he and the wife-to-be wrote specifically, so it seemed appropriate to leave it off for anonymity.
Pencil lineart, scanned in and digitally colored. The final one will have some painted-in metallic silver accents, and was printed on a speckled paper, which I simulated with a multiply in photoshop to show the final effect for my digital galleries.
The concepts given to me were "A dragon and a Pheonix", "puzzle pieces", and the theme colors of Burgundy and silver.
I really tried not to be cartoonish but It's hard to break out of the heavy-handed lineart. But James seemed happy with the comission, and that makes me very happy.
