Rules

Yes you can be a member or a watcher in our club if you don't draw Leroux art. You can just watch if you like. Please don't submit ALW art. Read art Requirements for more info.

Respect others please. No discrimination of any sort will be tolerated in my club. This includes sexism, gender or furry bashing, or racism.

No blatant violence will be tolerated towards member or any characters.

No fighting!!! I will not tolerate fighting in my club from anyone who wishes to start one. This included sequel and movie fans since they seem to be the only ones in the Phantom community starting them. I don't care if you like it, your arguments will not be tolerated here.

Must READ (Art Requirements) before submitting
If you send me a picture and or art this includes photomanips related to ALW's movie that came out in 04, the musical or sequel, I will warn you first, then you will be refused any club access and blocked. Don't make me Punjab you. Come on people read the ART REQUIREMENTS before submitting art here. club-fantome-roots.deviantart.…

BTW don't give me attitude on how Gerry is so sexy and the best Phantom either. I will simply laugh at you and then block you.

I'm over, stuck up wanna be phans running their mouth about how Gaston Leroux was wrong, here is my crappy phan fic on how the novel should have ended. BTW your writing is terrible, grammatically wrong, with major character problems. Leroux wrote the damn story, he can not be wrong. What is with these people now a days? Who do you think you are. Despite what you may think, Erik was based on a real man, so show some damn respect. If it wasn't for Leroux you wouldn't have POTO anything. Know Thy Roots and respect them!!!

Disclaimer
This club does not in any way support ALW's 04 movie or sequel. We are friend's with the original musical ALW wrote. We hold Leroux's version as the original and to be respected at all times. Any behavior that violates this in my club you will resort in automatic banning.

You might be amused to hear that I gave Marcus Lovett (currently playing the lead in ALWs musical on stage in London) a WWED? fridge magnet with a Punjab Lasso on it last week. He looked at it for a second, then said "Ohhh! What Would ERIK Do? Where did you BUY this?" He says he has read his Leroux :)

I rather liked Charles Dance, myself.

I'm new here, hello.

Going to see the ALW show in London at the end of the month, but also working my way through the many versions... Very much enjoyed the original Leroux, and Kay's Phantom, and have had a bit of a film-marathon this week, watching the Y&K stage musical (not so keen on the music) their mini-series (much better! Adore the duet scene, like the multiple masks) the cartoon (close, but no cigar!) and the 1925 (go Lon!) all in the last few days. My daughter adores the 2004 film, and I don't mind it, although even she says its silly that he hides away over something he could cover up with a bit of make-up. She is five.

I'm a writer, but rubbish at drawing, so I do not know if I have anything to contribute, other than my praise for those who can draw!

Hello there. Charles Dance was pretty good yes. I like the addition they made putting some of the book into it as opposed to the Y/K musical. You are most welcome to add writing here. We have a writing and poetry section.

Haha! So I am, thank you. Not sure I should inflict the Leroux-based poem I had to write for my creative writing course on you, but there will be some fiction eventually, I have pages of notes from yesterday...

I may well do. Today I am mostly livid at ALW et al for putting '1870' at the start of that film version. Stupid me took note of that, and went off to do all kinds of research. 1870 = opera house not completed, war with Prussia, and Germans coming... What year do YOU think the action is set in?

I'm going to make a blanket decision of 1877 if no other evidence appears, as it coincides with another useful date in Paris' history.

(sorry, phanfic rant!)

Have you read the novel? The story is indeed set in 1881 not 1870. They are very wrong the Palais Garnier did not open to public till 1875. Schumacher did not do any research and indeed got a greta deal of things horribly wrong in the 04 movie. As you start to research you will find the Chandelier did indeed fall as well, but was covered up. You will not only find evidence of a counter weight that fell.
