I must say, this is a very nice drawing.
Not many people draw Loki regal like.

I didn't draw it - I just photoshopped it - link to the original is in the description.

Beautiful composition with so much detail! I really like the Norse dragon motif above, in contrast with the Midgard Serpent below. The steampunky motifs from the Bifrost control room are very cool.

lol you commented this on Tumblr didn't you? lol it's the snake that drips the venom on Loki when he was tied to the rock.

Thanks for getting back to me - couldn't figure out how to message you at Tumblr. Being Loki is King in this image, and in a position of power in Asgard, I never dreamed it would be *that* serpent. It seemed to make more sense that it was Jormungandr. Although, to the viewer, it could just as plausibly be the serpent Nidhogg, who chews on the roots of the World Tree.

Yeah it could be Nidhogg, but he's away from the tree. And it would be FAR to small to be Jormungandr since he is large enough to wrap around the entire earth, and is known as a serpent, not a snake, it would have aspects of it to survive under water such as gills and the like.

Still, whomever it is, it's a nice design element. So my question is: why juxtapose the venom-dripping snake of Loki's punishment with Loki as King? And is the venom-dripping in this Loki's past, or in his future?

I dunno - I didn't actually draw the image it was must my theory ... It could be in either his past or his future since Balder isn't really mentioned in the movies - actually ever .... so who knows perhaps the punishment is for another crime.
