She used to be so sexy by Clem-Kle She used to be so sexy by Clem-Kle
Here is Ursula from the Disney's "Little Mermaid" movie =D
I never understand WHY she kept looking ugly while she had the power of changing her physical apperance...
Disney character ith tentacles. I simply HAD to draw her.

There's one simple reason they kept her old and ugly- cause young she looks so much like elizabeth taylor it would have given them hell to pay for copyright :la:

Actually she was based heavily on Devine, a drag queen.  The resemblance is... quite remarkable, though I try to avoid thinking of (Commission) Ursula Tentacles GIF Emoji in those terms...  Ignore

Well, look at Hermione Granger. She could have used her magical equipment to make her hair always neat and shiny, but she lets it stay bushy because she accepts her looks. I think maybe Ursula's the same. She's proud of being the biggest fish in the sea.

sigh.. i refuse to believe ursula really looks how they make her look in the movie. it seemed when that movie came out was when the media was so entwined in the fact that everyone had to be at least 20 pounds under weight if you wanted to look attractive. and so they fitted the antagonist to be overweight, to give the viewers the impression that 'fat people' are the bad guys in life while the protagonists in life are always young, skimpy dressing, skinny people, giving the viewer the message that they have to be almost skeletal if they wanted to be happy in life. It just all seems so ridiculous.

but if you were to ask me, i would picture Ursula as a young, plump, foxy octo-woman~ ;)

I know your comment is four years old, but... you're kidding, right?  Ursula was Disney's first 'heavy' villainess ever!  And really, they haven't made another 'heavy' female antagonist since either.

I don't view (Commission) Ursula Tentacles GIF Emoji  as 'heavy' or 'overweight' anyways, because she's not, actually.

1- 'Overweight' by human standards doesn't count, since she is not human;
2- Perhaps her species is naturally like this;
3- There are many animals in the ocean far larger than a single human, and all of them still float fine, so who is to say she would be any different?
4- naturally-occuring fat in sea animals (i.e. blubber) is actually good because it serves as a reserve for energy and/or helps insulate the body from the cold.
5- the spell she put on herself in the movie did not change her body physically, only how she appeared in the eyes of the beholder; it was purely an illusion.
6- This last one is important because it speaks to how Disney assembled the character's anatomy...  An octopus has a large bulbous body.  If you look at all the artwork on [and off of] :devart: of other cecaelia, you'll see that the vast majority of them forego the octopus's body and just attach the tentacles to their hips or waist, essentially turing the tentacles into a skirt.  However, Disney took a different route- they kept the general shape of the entire animal (minus one pair of tentacles, to simplify animation, a common occurance in the industry even to this day).  However, if they had simply attached a thin woman's torso to such a bulbous lower half, she would have been more pear-shaped than a poorly-executed plastic surgery!  Instead, Disney actually played it smart: they increased the 'weight' of the character's upper half in order to streamline her appearance.

And as to your last sentence, oh, I don't know- people can be pretty sexy without a stick figure or "shake what yer mama gave ya"!  I'm not a chubby chaser by any stretch of the imagination, but even though I wouldn't wanna date her, I did/do find (Commission) Ursula Tentacles GIF Emoji quite sexy!  :giggle:

[EDIT]:  You wanna talk about "disproportionate figure(s)", then look at Ariel about to cry when she's still a mermaid.  For a caucasian, her ass is huge!    And King Triton is clearly looks like a spinning top on sea-steroids.  Dull Emote

Young, hot Ursula is awesome.

Too bad they couldn't at least make her cuddly plump instead of angry, wrinkly fat. :(

I like to think Ursurla as the opposite of Ariel in every way, including accepting herself as she is... Its a really hot pic though.

To your wondering why; maybe it would cost her something to keep herself beautiful, like how Ariel becoming human cost her voice or like in the original story it was painful for Ariel to walk with human legs. Then again Ursula is so vain, she probably thinks she's teh hotness anyway lolol. Love the drawing btw.

I think I know why they made her ugly. They wanted to show that if you have a ugly filthy soul, it should reflect on the outside. At least that's what I think.

Maleficient is bad AND beautiful. Even if her skin is kinda green...
But usually, you're right; bad ones are ugly/ridiculous. It's too bad, reality doesn't work that way!

*sigh* It's what happens to all of us. We start out young, slim, sexy looking. And then we get older, over eat and pine for the days when we were young. Nature is so unfair. Maybe Ursula fooled herself into thinking she still had her good looks.

Oh, I didn't mean to be the first and only one to draw Ursula that way! I'm sure some already had the idea besides. Please do your own version, I'd be happy to see it :)

Strangely, I found Ursula less attractive when she is Vanessa! I have to admit that she is already very sexy in her way to move in the water...like all octopus. Anyway, you have a wonderful gallery!
