The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was an interim supersonic interceptor that entered service with the USAF in 1958.  It was highly streamlined and attracted a great deal of attention from air forces around the world.

The Starfighter was produced under licence in Canada, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Japan in various versions and saw combat in Vietnam, the India-Pakistan wars, and the Republic of China.

The Starfighter was armed with 1 x 20mm Vulcan cannon, 2 or 4 x AIM-9 Sidewinders, and bombs, rockets, or fuel tanks - later versions had more pylons than the first F-104s.

This example is an F-104G of MFG1 Deutsche Marine 1978.

This one is also pretty infamous for poor safety records and Lockheed's bribery scandal in Japan, West Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.

While Canada built their own version (Canadair CF-104), they lost 110 out of 200 in accidents.
