I'm sorry for your loss. I would help if I could. About the painting: is it an Indian version/vision of the Greek titan/goddess (mother of the nine muses) of the same name?

i know how you feel about it being gone like that... but i think that is pretty awesome that someone stole one of your first oil paintings out of a museum... first off they liked it enough to steal it out of a museum and second, it was one of your first and it was in a museum... great picture though... im sure its worth quite a bit now, and feel better knowing that whoever has it probably really appreciates your art...

whoever has it is probably going to sell it for a decent profit.

either way, this artist doesn't win anything.

that is downright amazing. i've rarely seen such smooth color blending with traditional painting methods. i'm utterly jealous ^^; i'd love to know how you did it. and i can't believe someone stole it. talk about disrespectful! i am so sorry to hear that...

ooohhh, i am so flattered by your kind compliment. When i paint then i use therps first to lay out everything and then mix the oilcolors with paint-mediums to get a better covering and last i try to glaze transparently over it. But by this one i think i did not know how to do glace then.

well it certainly worked beautifully. i personally tried acrylics, but unfortunately destroyed a drawing with them... maybe i should give oils a try... what size canvas was this painted on?

it was a ca.A3 size one. I think watercolors and colored pencils could be well suited for your detailed stile. mix them together i mean when you make the drawing first with a colored sepia pencil (only lines and structures and some shadows) and then lightly colored with watercolor until you like the dept. you can still hi-light with some acrylics in the end. Oils need a lot of understanding and are more difficult to master for such a detailed artwork then acrylics because of the slow drying. I hope you have the ingredients already at home. I hope you will try it out by chance.... it is so difficult to scan or photograph a pencil-drawing and yours must look even more amazing in real. Love your work  ps: ask your artstore for the best sheet of thick fine aquarellpaper.

thanks so much for your advice ;) i'll certainly give it a try, though i may have to do a couple things differently since my pieces don't come to be without a LOT of erasing ^^; i have tried colored pencils, but i didn't much care for the grainy look that they have... that's part of why i use blending sticks to get the smoothest blending possible with little to no pencil strokes visible in shading and similar things ;) but i'll certainly give water colors a try. my mom used to paint with them. maybe she can give me some pointers as well... :)

oh! the colors and shading are brilliant! for some reason i never dare to make shadows so bold, but i think it makes it look very realistic, i love that. She looks like you can almost reach in and touch her, and feel the texture of her skin...

This is really a fantastic painting and its such a shame that it was stolen. I wonder what possesses people to steal things like this?... Well at least you still have a picture of it!
