Ya, I've only like Sonic Adventure 1 & 2, and Sonic Colors as far as 3D Sonic goes. But the way I draw Sonic is sorta just my style...not because I prefer his classic design over his modern one, but just because that's how I like to draw him.
Thanks for going the extra mile and checking out my gallery!
I like to give feedback which is constructive. It seems not many people do that these days on DA. I like to ask about why certain artists choose a certain style, or about the techniques, materials they use. Usually if I like an artist, I will always check out their galleries; I love to see what other "gems" I can find! LOL!
I myself would love to do it more, if I had the time! ;-; The way I draw Sonic, and all of my characters, are just because of how I draw. I very, VERY rarely use references. I know quite a few techniques using pencils, but it would take a while to explain them... I use normal, everyday paper, and a everyday #2 pencil...and maybe color pencils. Why? Because they're cheap and common, I can't afford something nice like prisma colors... DX And what you say about other Gems is totally correct. I may be a Sonic fan, but you'll notice not everything in my gallery is SONIC.
It's funny you mention Prisma Colors. I bought a box of Prisma Colors in a closeout sale for 8.00!!! LUCKY ME! I use mostly pencils too. I also use a kind of crappy paint program called Ultimate Paint. One day maybe I can get the more expensive paint programs like some of the artists here. When I draw characters for the first time, I do use references because I really want my pictures to have "movement" to them and not look stiff and one dimensional. I hate for my drawings to look like "little kid" art. LOL!!!
Yes, that's very lucky. I'd be looking at least twice as much. Maybe you should try GIMP? It's free, and has a lot of functionality that Photoshop does. Well, The first time I draw a character, I also use a reference. But you're not showing your creativeness when you constantly use references, which is why I stay away from using them. I hope my art isn't "little kid" art! I try to make mine look decent and not flat, but who knows... ^^'
