Group Info

A group dedicated to the design of high quality traditional architecture as well as the drawing and painting of any kind of historic architecture, from monumental Gothic cathedral to traditional houses and villages. Emphasis will be on high quality drawing or color work and will be highly restricted to works of great technical merit, honoring classic modes of delineation but also allowing for creative use of new technologies for design, drawing, color, and perspective.

NO PHOTOGRAPHS PLEASE! Other groups are better for that!

Fantasy Architecture/Environments Folder: Primarily full-color digitally created finished concept pieces, often for games.

Classic Watercolors Folder: Full color and muted color, tightly drawn, accurate depictions of the world's great architecture, towns, religious, castles, ancient, historic homes, and more.

Pencil, Ink Pen, Sepia and Monochrome Folder: Highly developed, accurate, detailed studies of the world's architectural monuments in gray tones, brown tones, black and white, with emphasis on lines and shading.

Original Designs Folder: All original designs for "real" structures such as luxury homes, town centers, public buildings, etc., including floor plans, elevations, perspective sketches, details sketches, in any medium, including line drawing, 3D model, pencil sketch, digitally produced plans, and more.

Tutorials Folder: Any tutorial that is a multi-step sequence demonstrating, with descriptions, how to create a specific piece of art related to traditional or classic architecture, any medium.

Student Level Folder: Mostly drawings and sketches at an "apprentice" level fro younger artists, undeveloped shading, perspective not quite perfect, lines "bending", simple sketchy style, not masters caliber (yet!)

Architectural Details Folder: Close-ups of specific architectural details on a building, not the whole building, such as corbels, doors, windows, moldings, brackets, roof details, etc., usually drawings but sometimes full color.

Interiors Folder: All interior views, traditional or digital, existing, fantasy, or original design, color or monochrome, perspective view or elevations of interior walls.

I am semi retired architect, in a small village west of the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia.
I have a strong antipathy to 'continuing modern' architecture and feel a need to come out of the architectural Gothic closet. A lot of you are doing wonderful qualitative fantasy world concepts. The question is: is it possible to work towards a scaled 'actualization'. To select from all the possibilities may be the first challenge - something by Built4ever perhaps. I live in a dramatic natural environment, in a place without historical castles on hills. By way of graphic thought bubble I am thinking along the lines of a subterranean/cliff edge gothic folly attractive perhaps to the more deviant 'tourist' market. Do you know of any current projects?

Hi I just joined the group so I'm not sure how to get my post in the "Models" folder so I think it's in the featured folder. Not intending to miss label it, I just wasn't sure where to click, thanks!

Yeah that's fine, that's definitely a subset of what I have in this group. I started off that way myself in 1995 in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.
