Glass on Glass

Well, I've finally gotten around to spending some time trying to create glass with Paint.NET.

This is my first 'serious' attempt and although I'm not 100% satisfied, I've learned a lot and am sure my next effort will build on this.

Full size download is 1600 x 960 specifically so I could use it as a background/wallpaper for my Archos 605 Wi-Fi media player.

A 100% Paint.NET creation.

Comments, criticisms, suggestions all welcome.

Pretty good for your 1st try
Keep at it! :)

Only ';pretty good'! And here was me thinking I had this glass thing cracked (excuse the pun).
Only kidding, I know it's not perfect, yet. I'll have to keep practicing to get up to your standard.

I keep forgetting to reply...
Pretty good for your 1st try = I know you can do better.
If I think that's your limit, I wouldn't say that.
Something to think about, huh? :)

i would really love to know your technique on that.

I'd really love to be able to tell you my technique; but to be honest I am having trouble replicating the steps myself :(
All I can remember is Clouds > Dents (stretch) > Curves > Color Tint > Shape 3D (flat cube) 64 transparency > Duplicate layer twice > Flatten > More Curves - but for the life of me I cannot remember all the exact settings (except Shape 3D, as I saved the XML).
