My name is Christian Ivy and I’m a realist-fictionist - an artist that depicts alternate history, fantasy, and make-belief as though they were merely elements of regular real life. I grew up in Mississippi - the state I currently operate in.
For my audience, I want to produce images of visual beauty and emotional substance that showcase immersive scenes of violent warfare, heartbreaking social dramas, and inviting portraits of sharply-dressed soldiers, monarchs, and imperial rulers in uniforms, suits, and gowns inspired by 19th century fashion. All viewers are welcome to see my works, immerse themselves in their dramatic stories, and learn the fates of the dynamic characters featured within them. My reason for creating works of this nature is to inspire compassion and relatability from the audiences who see them.
I utilize a variety of mediums: General’s charcoal, Prismacolor colored-pencil, General’s Kimberly’s graphite, Prismacolor hard pastel, and Mungyo soft pastel. (I soon plan on adding oil paints to my medium arsenal.) Strathmore (18”x24”), Strathmore Toned Tan (9”x12”), and Canson (11”x14”) are the brands and sizes of paper I use for each medium. I trust these brands to be the most quality, yet most fairly-priced on the market, and they provide long term satisfaction to both myself and my clients.
You have a truly beautiful artwork! And I like very much the inspiration that you take from the 19th century fashion.
Keep it up! <3
