The Priestess by Ciuva The Priestess by Ciuva
Not much to say. A painting I've been wanting to finish for a long time but that I never had the inspiration or motivation to work on. I'm debating with myself whether or not to put it in scraps, but I'm not sure... There's so many things I don't like about it, and it's... just a face. With many faults. And I could never get the hair right. And I think the proportions of the head are wrong too.

Just a priestess. No special character.

Like the skin tone and shading. Yeah, the forehead is a little shortened. Here are some simple measurement to keep this from happening (cause I have so many problems with skulls as well :() The eyeline is typically half way down the skull from the topmost of the skull (not the hairline!). Then you put the hair line in (no measurements here, but ya have to guess it). Then the brow is 1/3 down from the hairline, the nose 2/3 the way down, and the mouth is 1/3 from the nose to the chin. Alright, hope that helps for future reference (so far you've got the heads down right, this is just tips to keep it that way ;)). Oh, and if my words are confusing and you want me to clarify, just ask (like I said before, you probably know English better than I do )

Thanks :)

Yeah, I know about those measurements, although I always forget to think of them when starting to paint... =P

nice! You've been busy with these latest deviations. This one's great! The black background is awesome, and great shading!!

So then I'm right, but I'm also wrong =P Or something :) Glad you like it. I think I'm stuck on what I thought about it before fixing it up - it looked much worse.

Thanks a lot :) And it's thanks to your critique on my last picture that the hair in this picture turned out good (in spite of what I said in the description. I kinda like it now.)
