A Lonely Soul by Ciuva A Lonely Soul by Ciuva
Could anyone guess I like blue? I also like experimenting with skin colours... I guess you can say that in these sketchy portraits, the skin colour is mostly symbolic. At least it wasn't completely monochromatic this time. But I forgot the colour of the eyes, it's very important to the character. They're yellow or golden - The Man of Two Spirits. I won't say more about that than that it's an idea that's used before, but it completely applied to him. The People of Two Spirits are a seldom phenomenon in Charbakin nowadays, but at a point in history it was quite common. It would, however, ruin too much to tell you all about it now, and what being of two spirits actually implies.

This is Ceredi. He is a troubled soul, and a lonely soul. His facial features aren't correct, but they weren't intended to either. I imagined him sitting in front of the window with the white moonlight streaming into the room from his other side, and light from the fireplace from within the room. This is during his lonely years - after the Aječnien CHarbakina's First Quest, the companions spread. For a while, life was good for him. Travelling around with good friends for the first time in his young, but troubled life. But then, as both he and Shanouna saw that they did not age while the others did, or died of other reasons, or disappeared, the trouble started. For a while, he was together with Shanouna and Ghindel, an elf who, of the simple reason that he was an elf, did not die either. But Shanouna couldn't really handle the fact that her first real friends was dying from her, and she started to break down. Her big love was dying as well. For a while, she left everyone and everything behind, abandoning Ceredi. He faithfully waited for the day she was finished grieving so that she would come back to him. She was his life, in a way. He had never had much, and didn't grief the loss of the friends as much as she did - he was used to losing things. He had lost his siblings, one by one, either to starvation, Varaion's army or his soldiers' entertainment. He then lost his life as he knew it as he, twelve years old only, was forced to become one of them. At that point he also, practically, lost his family. He was forced to torture his best friend to death, just to prove himself and to avoid both his and his best friend's family being tortured to death. He saw his father being murdered and hanged from the walls while still alive. He saw his sister turning lame. He saw several friends he could not save even though they in the end won the war against Varaion. So he was used to loss. He had no connections to any place in CHarbakin, except the one place he would avoid forever - the place he was born and grew up. So he spent year after year, even decades, staying at various inns, sometimes visiting Ghindel, sometimes just travelling without a goal, waiting. He spent decades trying to justify for himself SHanouna leaving when they both knew that would leave him with as good as nothing until she came back. Which she did. Come back, I mean.

So, it was quite some bad years for him.

Thanks a lot! I can agree about profile pictures to a certain extent, at least when it comes to viewing them. Somehow it's what I do to relax, I never really intended this to become what it did become. So thanks again! :D

Thanks a lot!

A bit funny, because this is one of my quickest pictures in a long time. Turned out very different from what I planned, and also how it was in the beginning, which was good because the moonlight in the beginning looked horrible. It's very much Ceredi, though, perhaps more so than any other picture of him. So thanks again, really, really, really glad you think it's good.

I love dropping these small hints to what's going to happen, knowing that very few will know what it's all about unless they read all the descriptions and some more.

I think it is justified, though. Not only can I find no fault in it, but the colour and expression suit one another, well, perfectly; your lighting is beautiful; and that eye! It's flawless.

Thank you! I've always struggled extra much with noses when seeing a face in profile, so I'm glad you think it's good :D
