This is what happens when you gather 30 photographers in the same abandoned building.

Today I uploaded some shots made with my cell phone. I deliberately decided to use my cell phone, simply because that's the camera I always have with me! I can have a 1600$ camera at home, but that will do me no good if I see a picture and don't have it with me!

Chase Jarvis said it before me: the best camera is the camera you have with you!
Besides, it's still about the photography, not the technology ;)

So, here are 4 shots, all shot AND edited on my cell phone. Are these the best shots I ever made? Probably not. Do I like them? Yeah, I'm happy with them!

........

And for the few gearheads here, it's a Nokia N900 with a 5 megapixel camera. I have it turned down to 3 megapixels, I don't need 5 on my cell phone....

First off "yay", I hit 10K! Thanks to everyone, uncliding the folks from tweakers for visiting.

Now that that's out of the way, it's time for the rant I think everyone on DA makes.

People are getting too fake on me.

There are many poeple following me, and yet I do not receive a lot of views (or faves for that matter). Now I can explain some of it. Let's face it, my recent winter work has been quite crappy. I think I had a small photography dip or something.

anyhow, looking at my shots, I'm improving again. My point still remains: if you follow me, please comment. Even if you don't like the shot, please leave a comment. Tell me how to do better next time, help me get better. :)

Cheers, and a late happy newyear,

Yours truly

Marijn (Citruspers)

P.S.

New glass arrived! Hello 35mm F/1.8 and 85mm F/1.8!

Panorama Panics

2 min read
Recently, I picked up my interest in panoramas again. It turned out I had some panorama files laying around that still needed stitching, and I was eager to try out a new application. So I dug up the images shot from the Dom tower in Utrecht, fired up Stitcher Unlimited, and started stitching 'till it bled no more! (not really, but it sounded cool).

And that's where the trouble started....To give you an insight: I created a 232 Megapixel file. Yes, that's 232 MILLION pixels. In my case that meant a resolution of 21.690 x 10.678 pixels.

Also known as: Big. Really.effin'.big.

In fact, it's so big rendering/stitching alone took half an hour, Lightroom took a dump for half an hour, and photoshop crashed twice when I tried to save, and that's on a 3 GHZ quadcore processor with 4 GB's of RAM.

And you know what the best part is? Deviantart says the file is too big (70 MB's).

Now my question to you is: are you interested in this image of Utrecht City as seen from the dom tower? If enough people think so, I'll upload it to an uploading service and post the link here.

Leave a message ;)

Well, that's enough for me. Enjoy! ;)

Inspired by Hiersein, who's exploring a country, I decided to follow suit, albeit on a bit smaller scale.
I travelled to Utrecht twice these days, and decided to make a photo journal of it. I can't post the images (no subscription, feel free to solve that issue ;)), but I will post the links as I go. All of the shots are mine, taken from various locations.

Here's the first one, a mill in the centre of Utrecht:

The second one is a night photograph of the dom tower next to a water tower. Shot from a rooftop:

The third photograph shows Utrecht's many city canals:

Number four gets us closer to our destination: the dom tower, from far away and down below:

Five, yes we're there. Only not inside yet. Architectural wideangle shot.

Six must be my favourite, it's a HDR shot from the inside of the clocktower.

Seven shows a closeup detail on one of the clocks

Enjoy!
