An abstract homage to the kind of visceral horror that Juji Ito's work imbues in me.
Amazing job, here; you definitely captured the stark horror and twisted imagery Ito's work is famous for.
It is my opinion that Junji Ito is the most frightening author & illustrator living in the world today. Sure, that's subjective, but he comes close.
Honestly, I'm only vaguely familiar with Ito's art. However, I think this image captures that inspiration well. If I recall, Ito's artworks tend to feature body horror. Here, we have a seemingly normal- yet terrified feminine face. Apon closer inspection, her eyes and mouth are exaggerated. This reminds of the artist's manga style itself. In terms of subject matter, the scene descends into weirdness coming out of her ear and her eyes. Considering her expression, she doesn't seem to be in control of the situation she's in. Perhaps her body has morphed into something(s) disturbing beyond her control. If that isn't portraying body horror, then I maybe I don't understand the genre too well. Regardless, this is lovely work.
Junji Ito is a god
Two of my favorite horror artists, together at last. Today is a good day.
When I saw the title I was worried that the hospital episode of Uzumaki was going to be the focus. Luckily I was wrong. But an amazing image anyway!
Amazing! he really is a master of body horror - the kind that remains disturbing no matter how many times you see it.
