So, July of 2013, my husband was diagnosed with an inoperable malignant brain tumor. Radiation and chemo treatments followed, and he was doing well enough that we both went to Arisia in January of 2014. (Hence the posts of the updated masks, though I never got around to posting the 2014 jewelry. Someday.)
In mid-February, he developed complications and went into the hospital, and then into other facilities. Chemo needed to be stopped. He's been home since May under hospice care.
Not much art going on around here, not much time for anything right now.
So I missed, by two days, having an entry exactly 1 year after my last journal entry.
Arisia's coming up again. Last year I'd had more ideas in jewelry than otherwise and only pushed through 4 masks at the last minute, and the imaginativeness and workmanship suffered accordingly. This time there's 9 masks cut out, and 6 of the 9 have been trimmed, and 2 of the 6 have been shaped. Plus ideas for 4 more masks, but I wouldn't count on them. Some of the designs make me very happy. None are throwaways. I still realized I'd rather put my very limited available time and effort into coming up with the initial design rather than in a lot of fi

Still working on various projects, but damn regular work for being so intense these last couple of months. What happens then is that I'm too braindead to do any art and end up playing the equivalent of solitaire all evening/weekend.
But, I'd signed up for the Arisia 2012 convention's art show, so I need something to show. I'm still hoping to finish at least 4 leather masks. I'll bring a few pieces that didn't sell at Arisia 2010 and lower the prices. And I have managed to make six jewelry sets (necklace plus earrings). some of which are just nice pieces and some of which defiinitely count as conceptual art.
