You were working at your shop you owned. The type of shop you owned sold an assortment of teas and spices In the back of the shop was your house. You loved working/Living there because of getting to see the bright faces of different people who walk in. Occasionally you will have the same people visit and get what they need. But today was different because most people who come into the store live in area or near but one man caught you eye. He looked troubled on trying to find something.
"Do you need help finding anything?" you asked the blonde haired man.
"Do you happen to sell earl grey tea?" He spoke. He had an British accent which suited him well you thought.
"Yes follow me" He followed right behind you and you got to the English teas.
"Thank you miss-?" he asked.
"________, I was wondering I haven't seen you around in this town are you new here?" you questioned.
"Yes I just moved here and I exploring the town when I stumbled upon this little shop" he replied.
"Well thank you for visiting. Anything else you might need?" you asked.
"No that'll be all" He replied.
"Thank you for visiting mister. Hope you visit again" You said.
"The Names Arthur" He said before leaving the store.
Arthur, what a nice name and person he was. The next few days Arthur would come back and get more teas and chat with you. You enjoyed his company it made you really happy to see him walk in and start a conversation with you.
"Hello ________ how are you today love?" Arthur asked.
"I'm Fine and dandy what about you Arthur?" You asked him.
"I'm Fine. ________, after your done working and close up the shop would you like to go have dinner?" Arthur mumbled.
"I would love too!" You hugged him.
"See you later love" Arthur said.
You got ready to go on the date with Arthur. You picked out a knee high pink dress with black flats. You decided to keep your hair down and put on a light amount of makeup. You grabbed your clutch bag and walked towards the door. You locked up the shop and waited till Arthur came to pick you up.
"Hello Love, sorry for keep you waiting" Arthur spoke. He wore a buttoned up shirt and a pair of dress pants.
"It's fine" you smiled and walked up to him.
"Ready?" He asked. You nodded you head and you both headed off to the restaurant.
After dinner he took you out to the park and you both talked.
"________ I Love you" Arthur whispered and leaned in and kissed you.
"I Love you too Arthur" You replied.
After that he walked you home and you both said your goodbyes. You couldn't wait till morning to see him again. This has been your happiest times ever you wished it would've never ended. But all good things must come to an end to start over into another good one.
The Next few months you and Arthur spent evenings with afternoon dinners and cheesy from that you would only go for laughs. Lately you haven't seen Arthur you didn't know what was happening to him. Soon you started hearing rumors that he was in the hospital you didn't want to believe that he was sick. Just to make sure, you closed the shop early and went over to the hospital.
"Is Arthur Kirkland here?" You asked the lady at the front desk.
"Yes, he is in room 203 on the second floor" she replied.
You rushed to the second floor to Arthur's room to see what the matter was. Once you got there you didn't know if you should go in. You knocked on the door.
"Come in" You heard Arthur's voice through the other end. You opened the door and ran over to his bedside.
"Arther whats the matter w-why are you here at the h-hospital" Your voice started to get shaky and tears started to form.
"Love don't cry-"
"No! there has to be something wrong if you haven't seen me!" you started breaking down into tears.
"_________, I have a reason on being here. I have Non-Hodgkin lymphoma which is a type of cancer affects the lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell, and is characterized by larger lymph nodes. I came to this town because I heard there was a cure but right now there isn't one so I'm just counting down the days till I go" he said and looked at you to see you crying your eyes out.
"Why didn't you tell me this?" You asked choking on your tears.
"Because the hardest part of this is leaving you" he said stroking you hair.
"I d-don't want y-you to-to l-leave me" you sobbed.
"It's ok love" he whispered.
You spent all of your time with Arthur you didn't want to leave his side. You stayed at the hospital at night he would tell you all these different stories about his brothers. He enjoyed your company even though he didn't want to see you be pained after he was gone. You would hold his frail hand until he went still and panic when he would stop moving, but remember he was just sleeping. One day when you went off getting something, the doctor came in and told him that he only has a couple more days left of living. The doctor asked if there was anything he would like to do before he passed. He told him that he wanted to get married to the one her loved. When you got back to the hospital everything was all decorated.
"Are you miss __________ ____________?" A nurse asked.
"Yes, may I ask why" you questioned.
"Come with me" She said. You were worried. Did something happen to Arthur when you were gone?
You were brought to a changing room. It had a wedding gown in there. Tears sprung to your eyes knowing what was going to happen. The nurse helped you into the gown and got your makeup and hair ready. She walks you down to Arthur's room. When you get to the door, she nods and walks away. You open the door to Arthur looking at you and smiled weakly. You started crying.
"________ will you marry me" Arthur asked.
"Yes" you cried so hard the words didn't seem to come out right.
"I love you Arthur" you said.
"I love you too, now love go get some sleep" Arthur said. You laid next to him and slowly drifted off to sleep Arthur was stroking you hair.
"Good bye love. gather all my things and bury me in all my favorite colors" he whispered into your ear. Arthur went into a internal sleep after saying his goodbyes to you.
When you woke up Arthur was gone. You jumped out of the bed and ran down to the lobby.
"Where's Arthur!" You screamed as you felt the warm tears flood down your cheeks.
"Mrs. Kirkland he passed away last night" she said.
No! that can't be this can't be happenning. You fell down to the floor and as more tears came flowing out your eyes.
The next few days were slow and gloomy. You didn't want to do anything, you just gave up. But worst of all today was your husbands funeral. You called all his relatives and told them sorry for their loss.
After everyone left, you stayed at Arthur's grave. There you sat at the grave crying your eyes out. 'Why did this have to happen' you constantly asked yourself. Both young and happy together so why did it have to come and attack your loved one and break your heart into millions of pieces. Why is Cancer such a vicious thing?
