This is a list of things I can't stand in digital and online comics in no particular order.
1) Unskilled use of dodge/burn to do shading. It never looks good, it just looks as though your characters are made of shiny plastic.
2) Excessive copy/paste. Now and again it's alright, but when your comic strip consists of the same frame copied/pasted 5 times, it gets a bit boring to look at.
3) Bad scanning. Clean up your scans people. If you're going to use hand-drawn art, make sure it looks nice. If you're using scanned lineart and digital colouring, for the love of god learn how to colour underneath your lines and don't just use the fill tool.
Hello, it has been 8 months since I left this site for the most recent time.
If you have been watching me for some time you will know this kind of journal entry is rather common. I go through periods of frenzied activity, followed by months of never updating at all.
So uh... I'm back for the moment. I dunno how long it will last, but I will try and submit some things that I have done here. I have another comic which I started and never finished, as well as some random drawings. You may or may not get to see them.
I have overreached again, heh. I wish to create a big complicated story involving several characters and their lives. But I've come to a sort of impasse, where I don't know which direction to take any of them. So rather than try and force it out like I have been doing the past hour or so, I am going to let it slide for a while. There are a number of things going on in my life right now which are more important to me than drawing a comic.
I am not finishing this by any means. I really enjoy drawing it, and I plan to keep doing it. Just in a few more days. Not every day or 2 like I have been doing up until now.
It's just this damn writing. Dr
