I honestly was a little bit baffled by this piece at first view, and in the very best of ways <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/> I really love the use of the lips as their own miniature canvas. At a glance they did not even appear as lips, but as an oddly shaped painting. The amount of detail works heavily in favor of this piece, particularly with the bird's wing on the left- it almost looks like an eyelash, and has a certain three-dimensional quality as though it is jutting forth from the rest of the image (or as though you have a bird's wing sticking out of your mouth haha). I think this an all-around successful piece, and I would love to see what else can be done with the concept- for instance, incorporating an image whose meaning changed according to whether your mouth was open or closed.
