He whispered bittersweet words in her ear. Words of hope and love.
And he held her in a way only he could. His soft skin touched hers, just a breeze. But she never loved him, because she didn't know how. So she just let him love her, hold her, kiss her.
He knew it, but denied it. His eyes didn't see her look, his ears didn't hear her unsaid words. But his heart felt the coldness and he wondered.
They danced in the candlelight. His arms were around her. He did not want to notice her missing emotions. He lost himself in the illusion of love.
And the words remained unspoken.
The emptiness crept through her veins. She looked at the ring he had given her. It was small, but beautiful. She didn't see it. To her it was just a ring. Meaningless.
He had searched the whole day to find the most fitting ring. When he finally discovered it, he thought it was perfect. And he gave it to her.
She smiled and put it on. And then she kissed him.
