And it just had to be right before the weekend...Typical :grump:

Anyway, if you are sitting there and viewing this then that means either you are still alive or Heaven isn't as exciting as you hoped (either that or Hell managed to live up to expectations :devilish:).

But at least it also means the past few days of my life weren't wasted either. Since to get this done on time it was really just work and do this. I had been planning on making a special submission for this date since over a year ago yet somehow I still managed to leave it to the last minute, though I wasn't expecting to be as busy as I am now. Thankfully I was ale to save a lot of time on the city by using some old building models I really should re-do by now, but with so many together in a dark setting they worked surprisingly well. I did also use some "real" ones though from some photo's I took a few years back too...I knew someday I'd need them, even if that someday was the last day =p

aah.. that day. guess everyone was a tad tense, even knowing the whole hype was BS...
great art, the detail as always, the lighting really makes it, like you see the rays, and those shrooms... very nice city build. tragically beautiful?
i never watched tests, news etc. but i had this dream (before 2012) where everyone was running, and then the white light...

Funny how everyone forgot all about it the next day after :D We at least got a visually interesting film out of the hype though - 2012 is one of my favourite disaster films, and it features an exploding volcano on a grander scale than even the explosions here :D

eeeh.. i'm really not into catastrophe movies... my own hyperactive mind creates enough bad scenarios anyway, if i watched that stuff i'd be freaked out to enter a high rise, use a lift, board a train, and i'd keep watching the sky and the ground with tormented fear, finishing by hiding under my bed - and i'm not even talking about zmobies *shudder*
funnily enough, i love vampires, demons, and i've hitchhiked and walked around alone at night even in foreign countries ... realist much?
your volcano shows one: reality will always surpass fiction ^^

it's so true tho' that whatever makes big hype in the news on whatever subject is forgotten soon after. results of the ambient overflow of information/desinformation ~

The sad thing is that no one will ever truly comprehend this, without experiencing it first hand...

And they won't have much time to remember it before being finished off either :O

I do kinda wish we had modern-day quality cameras filming all those old atomic bomb tests from decades ago though :plotting:

That would require another explosion, and I think I speak for everyone in the world, when I say: "Never Again!!!"

I was born in the mid 70's and grew up in the 80's. Thanks to the cold war and tv movies like The Day After I've been obsessed with nuclear war for some time now. It frightens me but I find images like this strangely alluring. This is an impressive piece. So beautiful yet so deadly, as the old cliche goes.

I feel a similar way. Mushroom clouds are impressive sights... in pictures anyway, but I sure hope I never have to see one in real life ;)

Yeah I definitely agree. I think it's crazy that at one point you could arrange to have a honeymoon suite in Vegas that allowed you to witness testing. x.x

I was wondering if I could use a copy of this (Without Watermark) for a non profit use such as Roleplay Forums, Fandom Wikias or as a Desktop background.

Thanks for asking. Hmm, I sometimes give out watermark-free versions for personal use (like wallpapers) if requested. But only up to a certain resolution (don't wanna send out high res/printable versions too casually ^^;)
