Rainforest Residence

An unplanned creation, I was applying for a Vue environment artist position and had to create an original Vue scene of my choice to show them what I could do (don't ask as I don't know the results yet) The raw render without postwork was just the rainforest on its own as it had to be a realistic Earth environment you could potentially see here today :earth:. But for myself - I thought that would be quite boring so I modelled some futuristic buildings (hotels perhaps? I'll leave their purpose up to the viewer) and rendered them seperatly and imposed them in here as well as various other touch ups...much like matte painting without needing any stock photo's :D

I guess this is a more positive future view, one where humans can still have their modern day priveledges and high standards of living whilist coinciding with the local environment rather than paving over it. One can only hope :fingerscrossed:

My God the render time for this was long, it was rendered quite big but not too much more than my usual and it kept me waiting 51 hours! so there's a snowman's chance in a hot humid jungle I'm going back to work more on this :disbelief: Made mostly in Vue 7 with some Cinema 4D and Photoshop influence :)

All artwork in my gallery remains my own copyrighted produce and is not to be used, sold or displayed by anyone without my permission

Hey there! I would like to get the right to use this image in one of my stories on the app 'Episode Interactive'. Please let me know options are available to secure your permission.

I think I can do that. The price will depend on how significant the usage is, as well as whether it has to be exclusive or not. Maybe note or e-mail me about the more specific details of it

Hi, your image is amazing. However, I just want to use this image as a hero image for my web page, but it seems that you do not offer digital image option. Please inform me how I can get your digital files with permission? Thanks a lot.

Sorry, I generally don't allow people to use my work on their own projects without some sort of incentive first. I do allow features on blogs, but anything incorporated into the actual design of a webpage isn't free ;)

I would want to be one of the colonists to live there, just hope there are no giant mosquitoes.

Regular sized mosquitoes are bad enough as it is :nuu:

Yeah, and research show that when insects, exposed to oxygen rich environments, grow exceptionally larger. Wah!

This very well could be what I need in a program. Which version of Vue is this? Pioneer with imports? Vue Esprit? Studio or Complete? Did you use the plant factory?

I used Infinite here. Ever since Vue 7 I've always gone with Infinite or higher. Though I did get by pretty well on pro Studio as my first Vue package back when Vue 6 was out. If you got the money for Pro Studio or higher I'd recommend getting at least that if you plan on using it a lot. The cheaper packages may seem like a sweet deal short-term but long term you might begin to find them more limiting and maybe even more expensive in the long run (a lot of trees and models that come as defaults with the higher versions have to be purchased separately if you get a cheaper copy, and then if you upgrade later you'll get them for free anyway, making that earlier purchase before redundant)

This is a lovely image of the future. Actually it reminds me of the Terra Nova show, what with its juxtaposition of futuristic civilization against jungle primeval.

I haven't seen that, though I've heard of about half a dozen other things called Terra Nova :XD:

Love it!!

That's a wonderful piece of work. While I love the more dystopian futures that a lot of SF artwork shows, it's wonderful to see something much more optimistic.

Same here - the highly industrial future scenes look cool, but it surely can't be all doom, gloom and no greenery left at all :ohnoes:

Fantastic! I wish I could live there...but it would be for the very wealthy and maybe not even possible then. Great composition!

Yeah, it looks like it could be either a rich person's penthouse...or maybe a research lab :XD:

Amazing.

I enjoy the concept and composition very much. The two things that bother me are the pipes coming out of the building (they don't really look like they belong there), and the clouds (they just look weird to me, maybe too dense or something). Very well done as a whole though!
