Took a break from the other fan-art contest (which I will still make my 4th entry to) And decided to squeeze in some time to make at least one submission for the "Mystery" themed contest held by

which has better prizes anyway

This time, I avoided the overly-detailed 3D scenery I normally do, and try and get just a "photographic" look. I deliberately made the scene to match the type of thing we see all too often in photographs (nice sunset over a calm lake) yet put a new spin on it with my concept of a Moon which is absent from the sky, yet mysteriously still appears in the reflection on the lake...perhaps this is the distant future where the Moon - and man have been missing for a
really long time, yet this strange lake is still stuck in a past time-frame. Makes one wonder what we did to the Moon in our ongoing search for resources

As for the details of the artwork itself, well this is one of the few that is almost completely Vue work, there was postwork to the 3D scene around the rocks and trees, which had strange artifacts on them, and the Moon in the reflection...everything else is raw 3D
With Vue's amazing landscape capabilities, it is possible to whip up such a scene in an hour, but I was too picky with composition and spent a lot of time moving terrains, trees and rocks around, as well as fine-tuning the cloud layers to get clouds to appear right where I wanted them...so it was jacked up to around 6 hours of work in total (and a whole day of rendering time)
