Nature hates me, plus I have a photgrapher's block

Is there even such a thing as a photographer's block? Well, either way I can't seem to get anything done recently. I've been shooting whenever I have time but for some reason nothing really works out. (Which is especially annoying because I have some potential great bases for cool macro shots, but Photoshop refuses to put them together properly...) But more importantly nature itself appears to hate me.

There are numerous instances where I came across animals and insects recently that only show up when I don't have my camera with me. Just a week ago there was a dragonfly parking in perfect position and sunlight. It was a gorgeous view and the thing was not shy at all. (I all but touched it before it did a quick round and came back to the exact same friggin spot!) But of course my camera was safely at home because I was in a bit of a hurry that day. Not to mention the squirrel that appears to be able to smell my camera from several miles away...
But worst of all were some strange little bugs I tried to shoot last Sunday. I was basically done and frustrated for the day and on my way home when I see a bunch of strange bugs sitting on a small branch. It was in a very good position and even though light was a bit scarce it looked like a nice view. Since they appeared to be rather static as well I figured I could get it to work. Now I didn't want to unpack everything again just to see them flee when getting close so I first went there to see if they would scatter. They didn't! Even brushing against them barely made them move one leg. So here I think perfect, let's do that. (Even though I was pretty damn tired, sweaty and hot as hell) I unpack everything, get the tripod and camera ready. As soon as the lens is pointed towards the bug (still a little distance away mind you) the damn thing crawls around the leaf it's sitting on out of sight. Well, bad luck I think, take everything the other way around and align the camera again. Yeah, you guessed it, the damn ting moves around the leaf yet again! I tried on some of the other ones and always the same. I didn't bother them, but as soon as the lens pointed towards them they were gone! I ended up getting one series were it didn't move, but that was a green bug pressed against a green leaf... yeah needles to say it didn't look that great.
Another kicker was yesterday. I found a grasshopper sitting on one of the chairs in my parents garden. Apparently the little bugger was a bit cold and wouldn't move at all. (Up to a point where I was not sure if it was still alive at all, but who cares, it looked alive!) I took a whole series of photos (all of which Photoshop refuses to work with) and once I was done I waited a while longer just to see if anything else would turn up. Nothing did so I pack up everything again. I went back into the garden to get a lens cap I forgot just to see a wasp snacking happily on the poor grasshopper. I could not believe it. Perfect place for a photograph, with fairly nice lighting but my damn camera and lenses are all packed up already! Of course by the time I got everything out again I could only watch the wasp flying away with most of the grasshopper...

Why does mother nature hate me so much? And why can't I take any good pictures at all these days?

Sorry for the ramble, but I am a wee bit frustrated...
