Hi Mr.Hart, I have a question. I've been trying to make my drawing more dynamic, but it seem that the result still comes out as flat. If you have any tips I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Chris, I had a quick question as I've recently gotten one of your 'how to draw manga' books.
is it necessary to learn and understand human anatomy to actually get somewhat decent at drawing manga style? Or is it possible to go on to become good simply by a lot of practicing and other methods of learning?
Obviously as a beginner I am simply trying to do my best to learn, but I would like to take the right steps.

Thanks in advance! :D

People take different routes. But the basics always remain important. When we draw something and can't figure out why it's not working, we go back to the basics to analyze it. But if we don't know what the basics are, it's harder to pinpoint the problem. Learning anatomy always helps, but there are good manga artists who haven't studied it. Maybe it's an area with which they have never struggled. But if it is an area that give you difficulties, then that's more of a reason to check it out. I hope that helps.
