My name is Chrissie and I am a single mom to two beautiful grown kids. My youngest child lives in Floridaand my oldest lives in Seattle. It has been hard adjustments having my kids leave the nest.

I am originally from Ft. Lauderdale, FL.I have lived there my whole life. I decided to leave the rat race of the big city of Ft.Lauderdale when my husband passed suddenly passed away 5 years ago. I wanted the change of seasons and to see mountains and feel the peacefulness around me and not feel like I was being rushed to do anything. So I packed up my bags and moved to beautiful Colorado. So once I got settled here. I brought my mother out for a visit, my mother is a longtime quilter and so she decided to teach me in the week she was here visiting. Now learning to quilt in a week was a very overwhelming task to learn. After she left everything just sat there for at least 2 months sewing machine, fabric all of it I just didn’t know what to do I was calling my mother everyday asking questions about this and that. I just couldn’t get it (LOL) So I went online and started doing some research online and discovered rag quilting it was pretty new to quilters and as I watched YouTube videos and saw pictures of these quilts and saw how they were made and how beautiful they are. I was hooked. So I sat down at my machine and started putting a small one together and I fell in love and been making table runners, blankets, and purses ever since. I sent pictures to my mom and she loved them. My mom had been wanting to sell here huge stash of quilts she had been making, so in July 2011 we decided to create C & J Quilts (Jan & Christine Quilts) to sell our quilts. I found a new boutique here in Loveland Co. We were there 3 months and barley sold a thing. Then my mother found Yardsellr I started listing our quilts there and they were selling left and right and we were so thrilled and they are still selling.



Then the holidays came around, I have been making ornaments for 15 years and always changing my color them every year so I went online again and found these beautiful quilted ornaments and as I saw how they were made I thought what a bonus I can still use all of the fabric that I had to make these beauties. And that is just what I did. So I pushed my rag quilting to the side and started making these little beauties and I haven’t stopped making them. Then one night I was taking to a friend of mine on face book and she told me about a show she was having and would love for me to come and be a vendor and that I would be the only quilter there. So I said sure. I wanted to get my ornaments shown to the public now mind you I started making these ornaments on a Tuesday and the show was on that following Saturday. I had only just learned how to make them. I sold one before I could get it out of the box. So when I got home I kept making them a week later I got a wholesale order for my ornaments needless to say I was very excited about this. And I have been making them ever since and thus that is how Rocky Mountain Ornaments was born.
