The Alaskan Lupine Shortage is Over by ChrisReach The Alaskan Lupine Shortage is Over by ChrisReach
Driving toward Vik, the rocky landscape suddenly changed into miles of Alaskan Lupine.  The flowers are planted in Iceland to add nitrogen to the soil.  They are later plowed, and crops are planted in their place.  When we found a safe spot to pull over on the narrow roads, I got out of the car and wandered a short way into the field to take this shot.
