It's ok people, drop your pitchforks, this isn't a redesign of the Eagle transporter.

When production on Space 1999 started, legendary concept artist Chris Foss (Alien, Jodorowsky's Dune) was one of the artists that provided concepts for Space 1999 and is generally considered one of the co-designers of the Eagle.

At this stage it was called the M.T.U (Modular Transport Unit) and Moonbase Alpha was "Moon City" (a 20 mile wide moonbase). Presumably this was for an early piece of marketing art and quite possibly was based on the plans for the design at that stage. See the original image here i320.photobucket.com/albums/nn…

This one really grew on me while I was working on it, It is ver much in Chris's own style with bright colours and big panel contrasts. Unfortunately the back is obscured by an astronaut in the painting, so I used a little creative license. Another Chris Foss picture of the Eagle, (looking a lot more recognisable) showed it with 3 Engines in a straight line, so I went for that.

At first glance (Before I read the relating text.) I thought that looks like the Eagle transporter with a Chris Foss influence and that I liked it. (I can also see references of the Nostromo in the body of the ship.) I still prefer the iconic Space 1999 Eagle but this works for me. It could easily still fit along side the Eagle. We have seen the Eagle, Hawk, Swift and Superswift and this could be some kind of long range heavy lifter version of the Eagle. The image is very nicely done indeed and I'd like to see a lot more work of this kind.

This looks really good, like a cross between an Eagle and a Hawk.

Great job!  Chris Foss is an amazing artist, and you've really captured his style.  I am the proud owner of a Chris Foss original, given to me by him way back in 1972 (I think).  It's one of my most prized possessions.

Sweet.

Though it does make me wonder whatever happened to the reboot that was suppose to be happening.

Great job recreating Chris's work.
Its not your fault but my only groan is the same as the original Eagle, there doesnt seem to be enough room for the pilots in the cabin(the window are to far back)

I'm a big fan of SPACE:1999 so I recognized the craft. It looks very good and congratulations from coming up with the idea of using the early design.

This certainly has the multiple, randomly placed elements of 70s sci-fi art.
Good on Our Host for rendering this piece o sci-fi TV history.

I was going to do a critique for you, but it was too short :-( sorry
Anyway here's what i was going to put......
This is very good, nothing wrong with creative license to help fill in an area your unsure with. Looking at the overall design and layout of where things are, the engines look pretty darn good to me. In my opinion a very accurate recreation of a seldom seen concept :-)
Well done :-)

Awesome. I remember a lot of Chris Foss's work when I was a  kid, on a lot of sci fi covers. Great stuff. Don't worry about offending the purists. The more work being created simply shows a lot of interest, and that's a good thing.
