It's ok people, drop your pitchforks, this isn't a redesign of the Eagle transporter.
When production on Space 1999 started, legendary concept artist Chris Foss (Alien, Jodorowsky's Dune) was one of the artists that provided concepts for Space 1999 and is generally considered one of the co-designers of the Eagle.
At this stage it was called the M.T.U (Modular Transport Unit) and Moonbase Alpha was "Moon City" (a 20 mile wide moonbase). Presumably this was for an early piece of marketing art and quite possibly was based on the plans for the design at that stage. See the original image here i320.photobucket.com/albums/nn…
This one really grew on me while I was working on it, It is ver much in Chris's own style with bright colours and big panel contrasts. Unfortunately the back is obscured by an astronaut in the painting, so I used a little creative license. Another Chris Foss picture of the Eagle, (looking a lot more recognisable) showed it with 3 Engines in a straight line, so I went for that.
Made in Vue 10
Though it does make me wonder whatever happened to the reboot that was suppose to be happening.
Its not your fault but my only groan is the same as the original Eagle, there doesnt seem to be enough room for the pilots in the cabin(the window are to far back)
Good on Our Host for rendering this piece o sci-fi TV history.
Anyway here's what i was going to put......
This is very good, nothing wrong with creative license to help fill in an area your unsure with. Looking at the overall design and layout of where things are, the engines look pretty darn good to me. In my opinion a very accurate recreation of a seldom seen concept
