Song of the Sleeping

If you are for some reason offended by this – keep it to yourself.

Ok, now that we got this out of the way, yes, this is a poem... so to speak.

Most of the visuals are basically a year old, actually I painted most of it even before I wrote the poem itself.
I finished the whole thing somewhere in the first month of summer 2012, then I just had to put it into Flash but work came up rather suddenly and I let it slumber on my hard drive for a long time. Now finally posting it here on DA.

Edit Feb8-2013: Finally fixed that annoying sound bug for good, now everything is looping and muting properly... i hope.

A few answers for some questions you might have after reading it:

1. Yes, the buttons are supposed to look that way.

2. There is no actual dialogue in the poem.
The idea was that the whole poem is actually read or cited by a “demon librarian”. He is just putting small pieces together in chronological order to compose this poem. Some parts may be quotes of the “Black King”, some might be just some demon sayings, and of course, a lot of people go crazy and start hearing voices and hallucinate.

3. The font is some free gothic font I found on the net. If the design of the letters is hard to read sometimes, my apologies, I think it fits well.

4. I wanted to narrate (or ask someone to narrate it) but couldn't bother to spend more time on it, look for people with a suitable voice etc. If someone would like to do it, go right ahead.

5. You can also find the music here: soundcloud.com/emil_larsson

We see nothing here. Was it removed?

It was in flash player, but I believe now support for browsers was cut. Not sure if it's possible for you to manually enable or download. Either way it's a pretty old work full of mistakes :P

Damn. We shall research this.

This is a really remarkable work. I really enjoy all of it. I was wonder of what i suppose to saw, but graphic speaking it's just amazíng, and the timing betwen the draws and the text it's very precise. In my opinion would be a verry mistake if you narrate it, because you take away the focus atention of the spectators. Reading with that music and the frames was perfect. i wanna apologize for my very bad english (i´m from México), but wanted tu say my little opinion of the amazing work do you do on this one. Saludos desde México, excelente trabajo. (if i make grammatical mistakes please tell me, that help me a lot with my english, tanks)

Thank you :)
i'm glad you like it

your english is fine, i understood you which is the most important thing with language :)
any mistakes you make will disappear if you keep writing to people in english, just dont be afraid using it and you'll learn it fast. It's not my first language either, most of it i learned on the internet, so don't worry.

This was positively stunning. Each frame was a gem and had me wanting to buy them as a print I think I've fainted.Heart  (seriously, is there anywhere than I can buy some prints of these? :D (Big Grin) ) I especially love the painterly/impasto style you have going on and how it gives way to streaks of vibrant colour underneath, almost as if they're scorching through. I only wish I had come across this sooner!

The perfect voice you're searching for is called Mike Patton.
Some knows him as a singer, and other knows him as The Darkness.

It will be a little hard to have this voice XD But I just can't stop imagine his voice in this poem.....it would be perfect

Woaw, this really is the kind of dark and horrid stories I like xD

I love your art, it is grotesque and beautiful at the same time.

Where did you draw inspiration for writing this story?

You are by far the best artist in DA. This Graphic Novel is the coolest one I've ever read. Reading those verses I can actually hear a voice of a daemon in my head, whispering. It's intense, stunning and horrifying (in a good way :D ). I love all the images. I really like this style that you're using. I wish I had one tenth of your talent, so I could give life to my imagination like you do. Amazing. Simply amazing.
