The title of this monochrome watercolour has a double meaning. The pair are literally above the clouds: he's looking out of the aeroplane window at the cloudscape and mountain-tops below (yes, the nearer one is a volcano). She is reading a braille info about the country they are flying to - note the tactile maps on her table and in the book on her lap. So she is above the clouds of her blindness - she doesn't let it get in the way of travelling. Note her cane lying diagonally between them, dividing and at the same time uniting them.
