To those of you who have been to comic-cons/other cons before, what have been some of your weirdest experiences? :3

I've been to EFNW 3 times and each visit has presented some strange things... One of the most fun/weird ones was on my first visit, my mom and I were taking the elevator upstairs to see our room on the first day; we stopped about halfway up, and the doors opened to reveal three tall figures in formal suits and rubbery horse-masks. They filed quietly into the elevator and stood there with us, arms at their sides. My mom and I stood in stunned silence as if suddenly trying to blend in with them. The mysterious horsemen ended up riding another couple of floors up before exiting the elevator, as quietly and primly as they had entered. We never saw them again.

So! I went to comic con dressed as She-ra and I guess I didn’t notice but one guy there kept checking me out XD. My friend noticed but decided to wait till after comic con to tell me.

At another one I dressed as female captain America and this child’s mom asked if their child could get a picture with me and I thought that was pretty great.

I went dressed as Apple Jack and my friend went dressed and Rainbow Dash one year to a con (it was literally my first con ever and I was super excited even though my cosplay was like super cheap looking compared to the other people)

while we were posing for a photo, the photographer was taking some pictures and we ended up taking a goofily posed one where I didn't realize my hand was on my friend's butt, because I was mainly focused on supporting her so she wouldn't tip over (I was squatting down and she had one leg up and I was holding it and didnt realize wheremy hand was whoops). When the picture was being taken, some weird brony just kind of shouted "yeah get it AJ woooooooooooo" and the proceeded to point out to his friend that I was "grabbing" her ass, and I was like welp okay I guess this is a thing now.

thats the weirdest thing I've experienced thankfully.

I used to visit a good few different conventions in the NW area every year since 2010, up until...maybe 2014-2015 when I moved to the east coast, but one of the weirdest/worst experiences I had revolved around this convention called AkiCon I think it was. My friend and I were really into SlenderLore so we cosplayed as Hoodie and Masky respectfully, and I gotta say I made a mean lookin' Hoodie- anyways, the con was pretty crap. Under funded, shitty location, really just full crap, but I enjoyed standing around in halls just staring at people bc a) I didn't really want to talk to anyone and wearing the mask gave me an excuse not to and b) it was freaking people out and that was fun.

So the con comes to an end and a few days later we find out that the people who were running the convention that year hired this one guy as a DJ for their aftershow rave thingie....turned out the dude was a fucking pedophile, registered sex offender and had actually roofied one of the con's young patrons and sexually assaulted her.

The ppl running the con knowingly hired this guy.

Then they refused to admit they had done anything wrong once the truth came out and deleted any information calling them out.

I can't remember if there was ever another one of these cons after the fact, but here's the change petition that was created in an attempt to shut them down if you wanted more information: www.change.org/p/akicon-conven…

I don't think I ever went to a convention willingly again after that unless it was being hosted in a well known full-funded location with security and, even then, I stopped cosplaying if only to be able to keep an eye out for my friends who were cosplaying. Shit's cray, man.

Based on my experience in 2016, people seemed to love seeing a guy dressed as Spider-Gwen. The guy was me, if that was unclear.

I can totally understand that, crowds like that are stressful under any circumstances. For me, even the small con I've been to stresses me the heck out. And there are always some weirdos to watch out for.
