Well hello there deviants.
We've taken the time to complete a few new shoots and revisit a few old ones over the past two months. The title of this post probably gives you a hint for what one of the shoots will be (if you're not a cryptic person, we've put up the first image too). The full quote is "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us" and for us, that means we'll gradually trawl through the horde of photos we took to upload the best. Please forgive us if this takes a while - we both try to spend as much time as we can on this but ultimately it is a hobby that is often overrun by our other lives.
We went to New Zealand for a long weekend back in April - which provided the inspiration for one of the shoots. Absolutely stunning backgrounds - what a wonderful country! Unfortunately it meant that we were limited with some of our props (no swords this time ) - we didn't manage to talk Weta Workshops into letting us borrow some to replace the ones we left at home! Also, international travel meant that it was not easy to drop home when we realised part of one of the costumes was missing - but we've learnt from previous shoots to make do.
Finally, a bit of housecleaning -
You may have noticed a name change (relatively) recently. We've moved to 'chirinstock' to represent our deviant names - no real reasoning or greater meaning behind it but we both think it sounds better than our last one.
Also, as you are all probably aware we put the (vast) majority of our images up as stock - these shoots will be no different. Over the years we've had a lot of people question or query us on why we put our work up as stock - simply put, we like the idea that stock helps to fulfil the needs of a creative assignment - we don't think that means that we should put less effort into it; we certainly don't put less effort into it.
Hell, we'll be making sure the ears are right on anything coming out of NZ regardless of how long it takes because it's just not the same without them!
Because, hey, it's not often you can say that you've been part of a war / nuclear winter or landing exploring an alien planet with two moons and the art that our stock inspires or helps create makes that possible - or at least helps make our story-telling slightly more realistic.
So, once again, we would like to thank all those who decide to use our work in theirs and take the time to show us and also to the people who take the time to comment - your comments and compliments always make me smile. We read every comment posted - although often it's so late that it's too embarrassing to respond!
Until next time!
