Ghost of Frog by chipset Ghost of Frog by chipset
I have had this piece in my head for many years, actually... the pale frog on the cherry-like tree branch. In some cultures, frogs was thought of as rain bringers. The old aztecs and the egyptians considered the frog a symbol of the cycle of death and rebirth, renewal. To me, they are the perfect symbol of fragility.

The frog seems silvery rather than "ghostly". I'm a huge fan of the use of the sharp black outline, it creates an ornamental feel.

This one is beautiful. Simple and fine composition. A good example that in order to make a nice design is not necessary to crutter the image with a bunch of
meaningless details, which is in fact is of the taste of many "Anime artists" we find around this site. I also think that the frog is beautifully rendered with all those textures in her skin, which helps to attract our attention to the center of the composition.

Hahah, that's cool... :)
I'm trying to find the time myself to make a real life pastel drawing out of it, thinking about 50x70 cm. We'll see how that goes now with me moving and all...

Good luck to you, I hope you'll post the finished result as well. =)

Hey, um... this may sound weird, but my sister is totaly in love with frogs and pink flowers. And for Christmas I was hoping to paint her something. She saw this and fell in love with it. So, to put it boldly, I was wondering if you could email me the orriginal black and white sketch (if u have one) and give me permission to paint it on canvas for her gift. That okay? My sis would REALY appreciate it.
If the answer is yes my email is necoyneraya@gmail.com
thnx

Wow... Just... another amazing piece from you.
You really utilized your thick-lined style here, as well, which is something I love and something that puts your work apart from a lot of generically realistic work others do.
A great idea brilliantly realised! Bravo!

This is absolutely stunning! As a piece of synchronicity I had a dream not too long ago after some emotional turmoil in which I saw a frog carved of stone with an acorn in its mouth.

The picture is absolutely beautiful, with its simplicity and delicate colors. It's wonderful that you see frogs as something aside from "aww, aren't they cute." The frog looks a bit toadish, but then, there are toadish frogs, and which it is doesn't make a difference.

I really do love this.. the textures on the frog are great, and his pale color against the dark background is really mysterious.. the cherry blossoms are very pretty and the composition is balanced wonderfully.

... but just a sidenote.. that's a toad ;P

PS: When I started it it looked more like a frog, didn't use any references so in the end it kind of went its own way :)

Very beautiful. And you're right, in some ways they're very fragile. Great job! I love how the flowers are the only thing with a color, and they're all around the frog, so they don't really distract from the main object.
