Silent Buddies by chill13 Silent Buddies by chill13
I always liked the idea of these three guys being friends. Harold is the most outgoing of the three so he's probably the instigator of the trio. He probably comes up with some schemes that get them all into trouble too.

For anyone who doesn't know these are three silent film stars. Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd and Charlie Chaplin. This is kinda sorta a remake of this picture: [link]

Maybe Charlie Chaplin, but Buster and Harold were pioneers in comedy.

Keaton and Lloyd are my favorite of the big 3 silent stars! No offense to Chaplin, but I just never really got his humor.

Lloyd is actually one of my favorite actors EVER! I don't think I've seen one of his movies that I seriously disliked. And Keaton is a lot of fun too.
I like some of Chaplin's stuff but I understand what you mean.

Away! Thank you so much! Yeah, even stone-faced Buster can't help but smile just a little at Harold's enthusiasm. Charlie is just wondering if the next plan will get them all into trouble.

Y'know, I don't think I've commented on this before, but I love silent movies. These guys were brilliant men. Harold Lloyd is my favorite of the three, but that by no means takes anything away from Buster or Charlie. Pardon me...SIR Charles! Must not forget that. Buster was the world's greatest stunt man, too. Did you know that Harold had a permanent Christmas Room in his house? It was decorated all year round. I'd do that, too, if I had the space for it!

I adore silent movies! And Harold is my favorite too. I have a complete set of his 'glasses character' movies. But Buster runs him a close second. I love his movies but have a hard time finding ones without a distracting score. Many of them have random classical songs tacked on without any thought to the action or the mood of the scene. If you know of any from a company that are good in this area tell me! I don't know if I told you before but The General was filmed near the town I was born.
Charlie was a 'Sir'? I didn't know that. I think my favorite of his was 'Modern Times'. I used to have a bunch of his movies on tape, but my tapes kind of died on me. Need to get some on dvd.

I didn't know that about Harold's Christmas room. Interesting! I've done a lot of research on the origins of Christmas and choose not to celebrate it myself.

Ah well, I know a lot of people who feel that way about Christmas. I can't help myself. I love the music, the decorations, the miniature villages I hope my Utopian Christmas story won't bother you. But yes, Harold Lloyd had a Christmas room. Wish there were pictures of it somewhere.

Yes, Chaplin was a Sir. Elizabeth II knighted him, though I don't know the date. "The General" is a great story, and based on a real incident. Disney made a film of that same story back in the 50's, and it was called "The Great Locomotive Chase". Wow! Filmed near where you were born. How cool. The story was set in Atlanta, at least the beginning of it was. That is an amazing film.

It was set in Atlanta but it was filmed in Oregon. My grandpa used to work in a mill right near where the train fell in the river. He said it was there for years and years. Only recently did they remove it to 'clean' up the river.

He hee. I tried not to make his smile too noticeable. But I guess on HIM it's blaringly obvious. But Harold's enthusiasm is so contageous, how could he NOT smile?

That's funny! So glad you like! Silent movies are so underappriciated. I think Harold's 'Kid Brother' is one of my favorite movies of all time. And Buster's 'The General' is definately up there.

I have a feeling Buster would steal the show, just by cutting to that face to cap off a gag or something. Keaton's stoneface makes things better pretty much all the time.
