Description
HARPG: Please, if you wish to have your characters board/ride/train here, submit a reference sheet for all horses and either a reference sheet or written journal entry for all human characters. This is a realistic stable. Some fantasy/mutations are allowed within reason, but must not be too unrealistic please.
Once you are boarding, join the group and then you are more than welcome to use any of the areas mentioned above, as well as mention or include my horses/people in art or storylines. You are not obligated to post or draw ever again after submitting reference sheets, but it would be lovely to see your artwork if you would like to submit it to the appropriate group folder. Collabs between members is highly encouraged!!
You may board up to 3 horses per human character (if you have three humans, you can have up to nine horses, etc), but it is fine if one human has seven horses and the other two only have one each, as long as there is a 3:1 horse:human ratio. No limits on dogs they bring to stable (within reason).
Some benefits: map is all drawn and eventually I will have art examples of stable areas. I may choose to draw or mention your horse/human character in art or stories. I will be putting out “happenings” occasionally. These can be used as prompts for art or ignored (example: power went out, dolphin sighting, etc.). I will also occasionally put out backgrounds from around the stable that anyone who is a member of the stable may use.
If you are interested in boarding your horse here, please note me or the group with links to your horse/human references. Remember, there is NO commitment to pump out art and you may leave the stable at ANY time.
If you have a stable you already love, feel free to become an affiliate! Doing so will grant discounts on certain sales and priority for breeding slots.
About:
Consisting of a little over a hundred acre of New Zealand countryside, including access to a rarely used beach, Tuhinga o Mua is OPEN to boarders. The stable consists of 100 stalls, all 6’x6’, with Dutch doors. 40 stalls facing the 60x100 covered arena and 60 stalls along the outside of the “U” shaped barn, for horses that may get too nervous or excited while watching others ride. Brick stable yard with two wash racks with hot and cold water (#2 on the map and the matching square in the other corner), numerous outlets for clippers, and several faucets for easy access to water. The covered arena has pipe fence that is four feet tall, but has a dense hedge growing into the railings, covering them completely. The footing is state of the art ground rubber, for low dust and high impact absorption. Automatic sprinklers can be turned on when arena is empty.
Each stall has a water proof bin, large enough to store several saddles and lots of equipment, outside the stall door for convenience, as well as rings to tie horses outside of each stall. Complimentary padlocks are provided for every tack box and they can be customized to include owner’s name and contact information.
Behind the barn is access to a full size, dirt/sand mix jumping arena, with a fenced off area for jumps when arena is getting drug or when other disciplines need to use the space. The railing is 5 feet tall and is made of round plastic piping, to minimize injury should rider or horse fall or run into the railing. The 60’x195’ dressage arena has large letters around the ring, the dirt/sand footing is drug every other day, and has 2 foot tall white piping.
There is also a hot walker (#1 on the map) that is open for anyone to use.
Their are four 1-1.5 acre paddocks with dry lot options. Horses that do best with limited turn out and small herds may opt to use these. Maximum of four horses per paddock, with access to grass from noon-4 pm each day, grass status permitting. They all have three sided run in sheds. The fence is 5’ white fiberglass and is sturdy and low maintenance.
There are three dry lots with run in sheds that have two rows of fence (with electric wire running along the inside of the fence) for stallions, or horses with behavioral or health issues. The fence is 5’6” tall and made of white painted wood.
The large 45 acre pasture is a great turnout for large herds. Horses are still checked for lameness once a day and can be brought in for grain if desired. The pasture encompasses a large wooded area, several steep hillsides and somewhat rocky terrain, along with many grasslands and valleys.
The property offers a 6 mile dirt trail that winds through steep sand dunes, dense woods, long patches of grassland for gallops, and many tricky areas with sharp turns and steep inclines and declines. There are several natural jumps of various heights places throughout the trail as well, always with room to maneuver around them. There is also a large grassy area that is not kept mowed short. It is perfect for training outside the ring. The landscape behind that drops steeply down to the beach. The slope is difficult but not impossible to navigate on horseback. There is also an easier trail that leads to the beach between two steep dunes that is much easier and can be ridden by even novice riders. The beach is perfect for riding on and there are small dolphins, turtles, and seals that visit the beach area on a regular basis.
You may also ride around the paddocks and out onto the nearest road, which will lead either to the nearest town or further into the country side where many sheep fields are. Perfect for practicing fox hunting or just a gentle hack out.
The owner lives on property, to keep good watch of the horses. There are also two houses available to rent to boarders or stable workers. They consist of two small bedrooms each. There are also seven one bedroom apartments to rent for boarders or stable workers. They are often used as guest rooms for visitors or show guests.
Amenities: Bathroom with toilet and sink. Lights for all areas of the barn, arenas, and paddocks. Free trailer parking. You may opt to take full care of your horse for a very reasonable fee or can allow our stable hands to do it all, for added costs. Arenas close at 11 pm and open at 4 am to allow time to drag arenas but boarders may visit their horses at any time. Gait with code to enter protects the horses, all owners have a code. You may bring any trainer you wish to the barn and may teach out of the barn. Any discipline welcome, as well as beginners to advanced. Family friendly place (no children under 10 without supervision please!) Boarders/riders/trainers are welcome to bring their friendly/well behaved dogs, on or off leash. Must have control of dogs at all time.
