Build: Cate has a strong, medium set neck, with only a small amount of arch to it. She has a deep, muscular shoulder and chest, sloping shoulders with higher withers. She is long and somewhat narrow though the waistline but deep in the ribcage. She has long, clean legs and very hard hooves. Her face is slightly roman nosed but not excessively so, and she has small, almost pony-like ears. Her tail grows very long and full.
Movement: Cate has very free flowing movement. She is comfortable and smooth to ride and has excellent natural balance. However, she does have a very naturally extended gait and higher head set, making it difficult for her to carry herself in a collected form for very long. Dressage is something she is schooled in often to help her develop muscle for collection and learn how to carry herself better. Over jumps she is scopey and powerful, but not the highest of jumpers. She can haul herself over natural jumps in the hunt field but will probably never be a high level show jumper.

Personality: Cate is the definition of amicable. She is kind to everyone she meets, gentle with children and dogs and even has been known to groom the fellow barn cats. If anyone is working near her pasture she is sure to be following them, interested in what they are doing. Her nose is always snuffling in people's pockets, searching for treats and pats. She loves getting her little nose kissed and always stands so still, just breathing deeply when people hug her face. Cate much prefers the company of people to horses, but is a bit clingy to Shark, who she has bonded with. She is fine with going off and working without Shark but panics and runs the fence line when Shark is off working and she is left behind. 

Under saddle, Cate is simple and already showing great desire to please. She takes some time to understand new tasks but always tries her best. A light hand is necessary when working with her as she does not take punishment or harshness well and can become entirely shut down. With a patient and gentle hand, she is a lovely little mare. She would never dream of bucking or rearing and nearly always spooks in place and tries to catch her rider. With more miles on her, she will make a fine and confidence boosting mare.
