Since childhood I have been fascinated and pulled in by the beauty of industrial structures, in particular large machinery and high voltage equipment. It's very rare to come across people who feel the same way - who see beauty in shapes, textures and compositions so ubiquitous in our urban landscapes. That's why almost every picture of miharashi, hands-down my favorite photographer on this site, fills me with awe and a sort of unbridled joy. It's why I would like to share some my favorite works of theirs:

I don't know what I'm supposed to be.
I used to play Go and draw a webcomic about it, got a graphic design degree in Vienna and designed postage stamps along with taking on some freelance illustration jobs here and there... only to ditch everything to become a genetic engineer instead. Now, I live in Prague, work on my PhD at MPI Dresden, and create transgenic mice and planarians instead of postage stamps. I'm also co-founder and an active member of the Prague hackerspace Brmlab, where I continue to dabble in electronics and high voltage - my lifelong obsession.
In between all that I continue to draw, write, and listen in on conversations between imaginary people living in my head.

My e-mail adress is c.cedilloc @ (without the spaces around @).
Best regards!

In metric units, that puts the lower bound of your coolness well over 9000  8>

I loooooves them :'>

Hey can I ask, how do you generate those high voltages?   : D
Transformers, Diode/Capacitor multipliers, Mechanical belts?   : DD

lol well it's not that hard to pull that off once you have a tesla coil and very little self-preservation instinct :] for the HV, I use a large tesla coil I built together with a friend. if you run it on low input voltages (~20-40V) and you're well insulated from the ground, it's possible to hook yourself up to it and do the lightning fingertips thing.

Hi, I'm okay! Life is difficult now that I moved to Germany for my PhD, but I celebrate every small victory and am trying my best to hang in there. Japan was all I ever wanted it to be and more
