Texture brushes, free, Photoshop by Chickenbusiness Texture brushes, free, Photoshop by Chickenbusiness
I don't own any of these brushes, they're just some from various packs that I've been using the most of!

These are some of the brushes I've been using the most in my texture-ish kind of paintings like these two-

I used all of the above brushes to make the painting on the left, and exclusively the "pointy" brush for the two wolves on the right :)

Below is a link to a video of me using some of my brushes:

It's been asked that I upload these, so here they are! :D Also it's nice to have them for download myself, so I don't lose them!
For photoshop!!Star! Star!  PLEASE don't ask me if they can be used for SAI or any other programs- I don't know! Star! Star! Unlikely for SAI, but maybe for gimp or photoshop-like programs.

These are what I use for photoshop CS6 but can probably be used for its other versions (I can't think of anything that'd not let them work). I've used brushes like this on CS4, CS5, and CC too.

Star! Star! Click the "Download" button on the right to get the .abr file of these!Star! Star!  Double click on that file and open it with photoshop. It should show up in your brushes after you've clicked around a bit.

How to use these:
  1. Sandstone: A good foundation brush for painting your basic shapes, sketching, and doing non-textured fur. I use this in every painting. It's just my original sandstone brush without the texture!
  2. Watercolor: Another good foundation brush, best for laying out your shapes and colors. Use this BEFORE texturing, then lay the texture on top of this layer. This is the guide to where you put your textures! Big and soft, good for clouds and sky.
  3. Pointy: A weird little brush that's oddly good at fur due to its pointed end. Has a texture, but is also ok for laying down colors with, so you can go straight to some chunky fur textures with this while skipping the above two brushes. A textured fur brush? Also good at ground cover and probably leaves.
  4. Tree bark: Best used horizontally, side to side, not so much vertically. This is a last minute, end-game brush that you DO NOT want to overuse. You can only use this well once you have a shape underneath it (as in, if you're painting a tree you need to have a big rectangle shape first before adding this). If you mess up with this brush like I do, cover it up with the bristle and alternate between them. Good for snow and burning trees, as well as trees that need a lot of contrast/detail, like those very close to the viewer or in light.
  5. Traditional: A good blendy soft brush with some texture. this is an alternate to the watercolor brush, except this one has more texture to it. Used for the same thing- laying colors, making basic shapes.
  6. Bristle: A really nice boy! Good at anything that needs texture. Mountains, tree bark, ground/grass/snow, rocks probably, and maybe even fur too. This boyo is just eager to please. I like this one a lot. Again, ONLY use this one once you've got a foundation done with colors and shapes. If you paint with only this brush then the whole piece is gonna be way over-textured and hard to look at. You need some softness from the watercolor/traditional to compliment the textures from these.
