Labyrinth - Ball Dresses by chibipandora Labyrinth - Ball Dresses by chibipandora
Okay. So there are few dresses I have loved more in my life than the ball gown from the Labyrinth movie. That HAS to be the most utter-princess-fantasy-dress I'd ever seen.

But at the same time, that movie came out in the 80's were big hair and poofy things were in. Like... those sleves. They're pure genius, but also a bit dated.

So I started messing around with a more modern (and less modern) re-designs. It was fun. They're pretty, so here they are.

x__x I know the girls don't look like sarah, because... I didn't have a picture of her when I drew this (in class). Consider them just models.

Labyrinth and all its amazing inspiringness is owned by Jim Henson and all his wonder.

you're welcome!! I noticed that they all had necklaces and I was going through them. I almost screamed, the tiny details are what makes the dresses!!

I donno. Its a large necklace, so I think it would be tricky.

 There is one method I tried for a much smaller necklace that only kinda worked out, so I didn't bother mentioning it before.

I got some scuplty clay and made the shape I wanted and baked it. Then to make it look like metal I also got some "Rub n' Buff" ([link]) which costs about $4 at Micheals. It gives a metal look that is really nice, but not entirely convincing, if that makes sense. But the benefit is I think you could make something that would look close, without it being as heavy! Either way, between the clay and the rub 'n buff it would only cost you $6-10 to try.

Well your middle model does look somewhat like Sarah. Good job. Yeah I have loved the movie since the 80s and I totally agree. Sarah's gown gave the very best 'utter-princess-fantasy-dress'

*______* Im not usually one for frilly dresses.... but I love Sarah's ball room dress too.... Its just so... pretty... and with such feminine charm....

I think though, that Lily's dress from Legend is still my favorite. Its not as grand and Sarah's but Legend is a very different movie from Labyrinth. *__* When I think of high fantasy, I think of Legend. Its my #1 favorite movie.

:O It really is good!!!! *__* Its totally my favorite movie.... action, adventure, love, it has everything.... One thing that confused me though was ... I guess Tom Cruise was supposed to be an elf, but they never made that clear in the movie at all.... but in retrospect it makes more sense.

Ahhhh.... young Tom Cruise... before he got *really* crazy.

Oh my gosh!!! I just watched it!!! Thank-you so much for the recommendation!!!

 It's great!!! I loved the staircases, and Sarah, and Ludo, and of course Jareth, the un-evil villian. *goes on about it for twenty minutes or so* Argggh!!!

I was initially going to save it for the weekend, but curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to just look watch the opening. ;P Yeah, right! So then I decided I'd just watch the first five minutes and come back on the weekend. (Yeah, right, again.) I couldn't walk away! Such a good movie!!! :boogie:

:excited: I am so glad you liked it!!! I really was worried you'd tell me you just thought it was so-so and it always breaks my heart when people say that.

:giggle: yeah, and I could have warned you, it really sucks you it right away. Some movies you can walk away from, but that first scene is so well done and you're just... oh. I sometimes tell myself I'm just going to watch a little of it and then do ___, but I always wind up watching the whole thing!

:glomp: I'm so glad you liked it!!

o_o oddly enough the [link] still works to where I was trying to get it to, despite the emotes messing the rest of it up.

It worked!!! Thanks! =)

Is it just me, or were the makers of the Harry Potter movies huge Labyrinth fans?
