What is it?
ChibiPaint Oekaki is a work-in-progress open source oekaki applet written by Codexus

Can I test it yet?
Yes! It's not entirely finished yet but many artists have already used it to create amazing artworks. You can test it on its official website: or the french oekaki board E-Kaki

Happy Birthday ChibiPaint
The ChibiPaint oekaki project started exactly 2 years ago. Unfortunately it isn't advancing very quickly but at least it's not dead. Right now I've started a major rewrite that's going to take a long time to be completed but that'll enable the development to continue on better foundations. So if there aren't any new releases for a while it doesn't mean I've forgotten about ChibiPaint...

This month's featured deviations (made with ChibiPaint):

If you downloaded it from their site you can't, I use it too. You have to screen shot it or whatever.

Yeah that's sad. :(
But on the oekaki I'm drawing on they're working on a HTML based oekaki tool. It has pretty cool brushes. But not as advanced as chibipaint.

I love ChibiPaint, it's by far my favourite Oekaki app. I hope it's still actively being developed, and if not.. It's already awesome. I draw at Sroekaki, here's my gallery, pretty much all of it is done in ChibiPaint: [link]

Hi there!
Just wanted to ask - do you still plan to develop chibipaint?
I really loved the program, so for fun and education (Never wrote programs java before) I've a made a version for offline usage with also a few modifications, but honestly it's being used only by me and maybe by a few people from community. I hope you are not against it, cause maybe u were developing for online usage only and stuff. I'm hosting all the code changes on github so there's no problem with license I guess. Though maybe I messed up code quite a bit, I'm java newbie afterall :)

Btw, I notice that you duplicate quite a few things from painttool SAI in chibipaint, but I really like things in chibipaint that are not presented in SAI like smear tool and scattering property and afterall SAI is not free and it doesn't look like it would be developed further. But adding nice SAI features like transformation and more elaborate selection could be made into reality, not sure that I will make it though :)

Anyway thank you very very much for writing this program and sharing source code :D
