RAF Shoulder Boards by ChevronTango RAF Shoulder Boards by ChevronTango
A quick attempt at the Shoulders Boards that have been repeatedly requested of me. Let me know what you guys think. I'm looking to improve the laurel wreath around the button. Anything else I've missed or should do?

There's a few things I'm unsure of, like which of these ranks should (if any) hold the royal cipher, or the laurel wreath. I believe its the air ranks for the Latter and possible Air Chief Marshal for the Royal cipher as the other ranks don't by default have that priveledge. Can someone with more knowledge on the subject than me correct me?

A big thanks to the RAF-65 guys for encouragement on this. The ranks they use on their site are similar to the above but use the Crown of King George, as well as the King's cipher, as there requirement was for ranks circa WWII. I'm happy to upload them if people want, else you can check them out at there site instead. [link]

Oh, and I can figure out the ranks for the shoulder boards from Pilot Officer to Air Chief Marshal, but what about the other three?

On No1A Dress uniform shoulder boards are word that don't show rank, as on Mess Dress, as the rank is still shown on the sleeve. For these the blank shoulder board is word by most, with the royal cipher if you are entitled to it (Rarer than you might think) and for AVM and above the 1st of the first of the two well decorated shoulder boards is used. The second is for Marshal Of The RAF and is word instead of the rank braiding on Mess Dress aswell as on No1A.

The Royal cipher can also be worn on the rank braiding as well but again only for those entitled to it.

Thanks a ton, these look fantastic.

Any chance to get some for the WWII era? With the kings crown and GRVI Royal Cipher?

Alternatively would you be willing to email me your raw images and I could try reworking them to fit my specific needs?

Thanks again for the work you've put in, they look fantastic.
