My government just approved a new clause that allows individuals to legally train AI on any published work: music, books, online posts, pictures, anything!!! Sure, they said the final products can't be copyrighted unless the original creator(s) consent to it, but we all know asking for permission is not gonna happen, and creators would have a hard time proving when or how their work are being stolen.
Yesterday, I just came across a fellow artist whose designs were stolen by another to make toys and profit from them. The seller said the designs were not copyrighted so they were free to use, and unless there were any legal copyright documents as proof, they would not take down the products. When thieves are persistent with this kind of mindset, how do they think human work stolen by AI would be treated differently?
Artists have gathered to discuss the solutions, but tbh I don't know how to process from here. Stronger watermark and glaze will make the art ugly and it's still not 100%
