Combat Controllers v1+2

The original Nintendo was a highlight of my young gaming career, I didn't own one, but a number of friends and some of the cousins had consoles, pretty sure I always played until I was forced to stop :) duck hunt was an especially great memory.

Growing up, we only made it into the city once or twice a year for back to school or xmas shopping, and one time we were in a Best Buy where Sonic 2 was set up to demo... My parents had to RIP me away from that thing. It was the most amazingly fun game I had ever had the chance to play or see.  Pretty sure my dad also had to be dragged away from it, and so my parents did end up getting me the system, and I spent many a late night on the good ol sega. Several friendships did end via Mortal Combat cheap moves.

Still miss the good ol days of going to the movie rental store and getting 5 old movies for 5 dollars, and if you were really lucky, renting a Sega game for the week.

Been chipping away at these pieces for a while- didn't want to post until I had at least 2 of them done. I will be posting larger individual shots later on.

See if you can name all the characters.

hmn, feels like it should be a more used concept, or at least more popular concept in games that let you build the arena!

Whenever you do the individual shots, is there any chance of getting these in wallpaper-worthy resolutions, and/or available as prints?  Paid or whatever, I know I'd love to be able to display these somehow or another, either on my monitor or hung on my wall.

Amazing. If I look at the thumbnail or squint I see the controllers with a camouflage pattern. If I look at the full size images I see the game levels.

Man, great pieces! I can relate to you while growing up, had some good times with NES, SNES, Genesis. Oddly enough, I wanted Sonic 2 for Christmas back then, got Vectorman and Ecco the Dolphin instead, they turned out really great! I really wish they kept the movie rental places intact, especially Mr. Movies and Blockbuster. Great times!

I liked reading about that little bit of nostalgia. Times were so much simpler back then. :)

This is great! Plus it took me about 5 whole minutes to figure out that these arenas were in the shape of controllers for their respective systems. There was so much going on in them that I didn't even think to move back a little.

I think I know who most of these characters are. The only one I can't think of is the guy on the bottom left of the Genesis controller.
These turned out great. Were the characters chosen from the more iconic games of each system?

Woah, this is quite the scene you made. Bowser and Donkey Kong on the left are probably the highlight characters for me.

Let's see… on the left, I'm seeing Kirby devouring the Duck Hunt Dog and two ducks. The guy from Contra is next, duking it out against Samus Aran, followed by DK vs a Chain Chomp. Beneath that layer there's… I think that's Simon Belmont? Facing… another Samus? Then there's Bowser shooting fireballs at Link while Luigi leaps into action. There's Yoshi vs Megaman, and Mario vs Black Mage down at the bottom. On the right, there's Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles; that opossum guy from Rocket Knight; the Ninja Turtles, Earthworm Jim, the Dwarf from Golden Axe, and Strider Hiryu. Not sure about the rest.
